Dear PyCon Team,
I am Bernice Omiunu, a seasoned data scientist with years of experience
using Python. I have also had the privilege of leading various tech
chapters, organizing national and international conferences/events, and
contributing to the growth of the Python community in Africa.
I am writing to express my interest in leading the dormant PyCon chapter in
Africa. As you may be aware, Africa is the largest continent in the world,
and with a population of over 1.3 billion people, it presents a massive
opportunity for the Python community. Nigeria is the largest country in
Africa with over 211 million people.
Unfortunately, the PyCon chapter in Nigeria has been dormant for the past 3
years, and this has affected the growth and development of the Python
community in my region.
I believe that with my experience and expertise in Python and event
organization, I am well-equipped to lead the PyCon chapter in Africa to
greater heights. My team and I will work hard to revive the chapter, build
a vibrant community of Python enthusiasts, and organize events and
conferences that will not only impact Africa but also the global PyCon
community.
By reviving the PyCon chapter in Nigeria, we will provide a platform for
African developers to learn, collaborate, and share ideas with their
counterparts from other parts of the world. We will also create an
opportunity for the global Python community to tap into the vast talent
pool of African developers and explore new collaborations and partnerships.
I am confident that with your support, we can make the PyCon Nigeria of the
most vibrant and impactful chapters in the global Python community. I look
forward to discussing this opportunity with you further and answering any
questions you may have.
Thank you for considering my request.
Best regards,
Bernice Omiunu.
