If you don't want to use LDAP over SSL or StartTLS extended 
operation to encrypt the LDAP data traffic you don't need to 
install OpenSSL.

You can ignore that warning.

I guess your OpenLDAP build was not complete. You should find 
liblber.a and/or liblber.so.

find the OpenLDAP Admin Guide, the FAQ-O-MATIC and mailing lists 
(archives) helpful to track those things down. Check out 
http://www.openldap.org.
