Moving from Perl to Python

Richard,
I too own Learning Python by O'Reilly and it is a great
intro to Python. It covers the basics well. I though about
getting Programming Python but like the other guy said,
it seems a bit dated now. You can check out the TOC at
the O'Reilly site as well as a few sample chapters. And
there is also a cheap (yet handy) pocket reference.
