Slightly OT Linux newbie question

I installed Python 2.2.1 under Linux (Suse 8.0) and use KDE 3.0 (i.e. when
it is not hanging; somtimes it is).

Whe I worked under MS-Win everything was very simple and comfortable: There
was a menu where I could select the IDLE or the documentation or the Python
prompt, whatever I wanted.

Can anybody give me a hint as to how to achieve the same thing under Linux?
