Tkinter error

I just installed ver. 2.2.  When I try to run Tkinter script (include IDLE),
the following error occurs:

   "self.tk = _tkinter.crate(screenName, baseName, className)
TclError:  Can't find a usuable init.tcl in the following directories: [list
of directories]"

Among the directories listed is the directory in which init.tcl is located.
What gives?
