OpenLDAP slapd backend for Python (back-python) ??

I'm looking for a python backend to OpenLDAP slapd.

I see that Andy Dustman was going to write one back in 1999, but I can't
find out any information about it.. I tried sending him email but perhaps I
don't have the correct address.

So .. does anyone have a back-python for slapd?
