Writing an NLP System in Python

My First time here,

I am trying to write a program in python that can parse simple sentences 
like:

''I need a train from London to Brighton''

and get a query response from a database. Can anyone help me begin this task 
by suggesting what components I will need to look at. I am learning python, 
for the first time, and would be grateful for any help.
