Compiling disutil modules on Windows

Hi folks,

I now have mingw working, but some of the packages I want to try are
only distributed in disutils format. I can't figure out a way to get
these packages to use the mingw compiler. Is this possible, or do I
really have to shell out $$ to microsoft to get these installed?
