Hello Guys,
First of all I have to thank God for giving us the grace to hear from one
another after the workshop, and I also appreciated @Aisha for checking on
us to know if things are great with us else to notify others and see the
possibility of any assistance, Kudos.
Also I checked the workshop's photos on flickr and am mesmerized seeing
through the perspective of Happy People, all are lovely with moments of
happiness wishing last more longer which I still hope we do have in the
other coming workshops.
@Olabayo & @Chukudi thanks for keeping on, moderating and constant
messages in this mailing list
@TosinAnimashaun the article on Django Girls Lagos Workshop is thoughtful
and lovely, I really appreciate the efforts put into it
@Lekan thanks for evangelizing for Django Girls whereby also promoting
Python and it's community though I know it's not easy combining school
activities with organizing DjangoGirls in anyway we are here to help and I
love the idea for the Python Book in a Nigeria version
@all thanks for voting and the support of wanting to work on a open source
project and below is the documentation of mErgencyNG.
The community is free to discuss and modify it you see fit.
Thanks all and in Aisha's mode am wishing you a Pythonic Day.
Hugs and pecks!
mErgencyNG is a crowd sourced platform for all security agencies, disaster
management outfits or organizations, hospitals and road safety corps and
the citizenries for a quick responds and threats notification from the
citizenries to the government or appropriate authorities for safeguarding
lives and properties.
In a Nigeria of today there is no web or mobile app that augment the
efforts of our security forces because civilians are detached from the
system, they are afraid to report incidents so not to be the first suspect.
Every citizens want to be connected with what government is doing and with
the level of awareness and the advocacy of community policing and to curb
the rising insurgency in Nigeria each and everyone are the users of the
application and with the current population of Nigeria as at today if only
we have 20million users am sure we will be well informed.
The users of the application can use it to report any crime to the police,
accidents can be reported to police or FRSC, we can call ambulance in case
of emergency, call for assistance from vigilante group, notify civil
defence on any vandalism, report suspicious items to bomb squad or
terrorism to the appropriate authorities
Create a web and mobile app that people can use to report any crime or
emergency to the appropriate authorities. We can also use the application
to place inform of advert for missing person, stolen items or vehicle and
also integrate with social media for allowing neighbours, friends, families
and our networks to notify us if they see the items missing.
VISION:
* Secured and safe neighbourhood, peaceful nation for all
MISSION:
* To ensured a safe and secured communities through collaboration and
engagement of citizens
OBJECTIVES:
* To protect lives and properties
* To support by provision of emergency assistance when needed
* To assist victims of emergency medical needs without the rigour of police
report document before treatment
* To report crime without be seen as a first suspect
* To facilitate information sharing between security agencies and the
citizens
OVERVIEW OF THE mErgencyNG
mErgencyNG will be a web and mobile app solution aimed at improving
response of security, road safety, medical, army, fire and other services
to emergency incidents while it will be used to creating a social media
buzz amongst users. Developing countries such as Nigeria has a huge gap in
notifying the respective emergency services about demanding situation and
this web and mobile application seeks to fill this gap. This web and mobile
application directly affects those who find themselves in emergency
situations in a country with absolutely no helpline / emergency hotline
like other developed countries of the world. Publicity of emergencies goes
along way in notifying the various emergency services available for
decisive action and this web and mobile application enables access to
highly coordinated and distributed emergency care. This application has a
great potential to affect a large group of people deeply whilst filling up
the large vacuum of emergency notification and responses in a developing
country like Nigeria. It also brings location based services to citizens.
In that way, we are able to bring emergency services (Ambulance, fire
services, Police, Red Cross, FRSC and rescue) delivering services and cabs
- as well as other location based services to all areas with no (clearly
defined) street addresses.
