At first, I would say that with error 1 and 11, it is a "reinstall the
system" situation.

Anyway, I don't remember using Python on 8.1 so, I'll give it a try at home
when I get 5 minute.

For me, MacPython from 1.5.x up to the latest 2.1bx have proven very stable
for the last 2 years. But I never used Tkinter, up to now.
