I think you can get by on very little.  You need to know enough to
read Apple's docs, but that's not very much.

I mean, it's just C with a bit of smalltalk wedged into it, right? :-)

My advice would be:

1) Do Apple's tutorial in Obj-C.

2) Do the first two(?) PyObjC tutorials (one of which is the same as
   Apple's but in Python).

3) Dive in!
