I'm not don't have answers to anyt of your questions below. Where would I
find Path info? If ocrad.exe is there, is that good or bad? What is PIL?

I'm going to send you a sample of the sollicitations I receive. Maybe that
will help.

Can you be more specific about not "picking up the info it needs"?  I
believe there is an ocrad.exe file in the Windows installer.  Does it wind
up somewhere on your PATH?  Do you have PIL installed?
