[Tutor] multiple list creation

I wonder how to create an empty list with a unique name for each item in a 
sequence??

 >>>a=['one','two','three']
 >>>for b in a:
	b+'buffer'=[]

SyntaxError: can't assign to operator (line 2)

this isn't it either:

 >>>def listmaker(x):
	y=[]
	return y

 >>>for b in a:
	listmaker(b)

[]
[]
[]

surely I'm missing something simple??
