ImportError: No module named __config__

I've just installed scipy 0.6.0 but am unable to use it. When attempting to import scipy, I get the following error: Python 2.5.2 (r252:60911, Feb 27 2008, 23:06:45) [GCC 4.1.0 (SUSE Linux)] on linux2 Type "help", "copyright", "credits" or "license" for more information. >>> import scipy Traceback (most recent call last): File "<stdin>", line 1, in <module> File "scipy/__init__.py", line 54, in <module> from __config__ import show as show_config ImportError: No module named __config__ I see where a number of people have posted similar errors, but no solutions were forthcoming. (At least from what I can tell.) Any idea on what the problem is and how to resolve it? Cheers, Mark -- I'm taking reality in small doses to build immunity.

Hi ,Guys I was frustrated with the function "eig" .The matrix looks like this: [ 0 ,1 ,exp(1.0j*k) ] [ 1 , 0 , 1 ] [ exp(-1.0j*k) , 1 , 0 ] Here 1.0j is the complex expression in python.The varible 'k' is an argument.The eigenvalues can be determined exactly by Maxima. They are : sqrt(3.0) * sin(k/3.0) - cos(k/3.0), -sqrt(3.0) * sin(k/3.0) - cos(k/3.0), 2.0 * cos(k/3.0) The above functions are plotted in fig1.I also use scipy.linalg.eig to calculate the eigenvalues ,and plot them in fig2.You will find that there is a discontinuty around pi/2 in fig2 .In order to confirm which is right,I use subroutine "zheev" in lapack to get the result which confirm the fig1 is correct.So I think maybe there is a bug when I use "eig". I paste the code in the end of letters,any suggestion is welcome. iPython: How to reload & run?

Hello, New iPython user here.... Typing %run only reloads the actually file... any of my modules are not reloaded even if I've chenged them. Is there short-cut command to %run a file and forcefully reload any modules that its uses? ANN: constrained scipy.fsolve equivalent

Hi all, I'm glad to inform that now scikits.openopt NLSP <http://scipy.org/scipy/scikits/wiki/NLSP> solver nssolve can handle all types of constraints; user-supplied derivatives to f, c, h can be handled as well. See NLSP constrained example <http://projects.scipy.org/scipy/scikits/browser/trunk/openopt/scikits/openo…>. Also, a small bugfix for nssolve iprint parameter handling has been made. However, currently graphic output for constrained NLSP does not work properly yet, it's intended to be fixed in future. nssolve is intended for non-smooth and noisy funcs (and uses NSP ralg solver), hence smooth functions are handled, of course, much better by scipy.optimize fsolve. Also, convergence for non-convex functions is not guarantied. Regards, D.

Running scipy.test on recent SVN build

Hello all, Last night I tried installing scipy (on OS X 10.5.2) and I was surprised to find that nose is now required to run scipy.test. Granulate array

Hi, I am new with numpy and scipy. But I have a problem to find a good way to compute my array. I have a array with 2 rows. Example [[5, 8, 9, 10], [1, 2, 3, 5,6]] And I need to manage the number of records without touch the "behaviour" of my array. Hi List! I'm looking for a way to distribute jobs among my 4 processors using threading, however top doesn't show me processor activity of 400 procent but something around 150%. Any suggestions? Fork, pthreads? I feel threading is magic; maybe there is a good scientific computing tutorial efficient threading. Yours, Justus

the physical frequency of FFT

Hi, I have some other questions about the fft function. Suppose I have N sampling points and the sampling rate is Fs. I performed an N-point FFT, using the code *fft(my_list_of_data)*. 1. Doesn't the k-th point (0<k<N/2) correspond to the physical frequency (k*Fs)/(2*N)? 2. Consider the single-sided case. If I just plot the FFT result by * plot(fft(my_list_of_data))*, the x-coordinate ([0,Pi]) is the image part and the amplitude is the real part, right? 3. If I wanna estimate the power spectrum at each frequency, should I square the real part or computer the norm (square root of the sum of squares of the real and image part) of the complex number, at each FFT point?
