[Mailman-Users] Gzipping archives

Can someone run down the steps required to have the downloadable version
of a month's archives gzipped automatically?

I've set cron to run 'nightly_gzip' every night, but that doesn't seem to
do anything.  It doesn't do anything when I run it explicitly either.  Is
there a trick to this?
