[Mailman-Users] how long before messages sent?

One of my mailman lists is used as an announcement-only list. Each alert, or
announcement goes out to a different group, which is pulled from a database
query. So it would be helpful to unsubscribe everyone right after sending
out the alert, while i've got the subscribe/unsubscribe list file right
there in front of me. But if i immediately unsubscribe email addresses, is
there a chance those folks won't get the alert?

I.e. how long should i allow for Mailman (and the mail server?) to need
access to the subscription list?
