[Mailman-Users] local network

hi all

has anyone had any experience with contacting the web admin pages using a 
local network address

with the earlier version of mailman the users (who also happen to be list 
admin ) who were on the local network (behind the router) were able to access 
the admin pages by substituting 192.168.x.x  instead of the list url and this 
all worked fine

after upgrading to 2.1.5 this no longer works as many links seem to be 
absolute rather than relative urls

by making an entry in the hosts file of the local machine 
192.168.x.x    public url
we were able to gain access but the authorisation still dosent work correctly
keeps asking for password
 and they cannot add mambers.

any ideas
