Dear Users, I am a new Kwant user. I want to learn this useful software. I could not find Kwant's ".exe" file for Windows. Do we need to compile the ".tar.gz" in Windows using Cygwin? Any help would be welcomed. Kind Regards, -- *Dr. Siddheshwar chopra,* *M.Sc., Ph.D (Physics)Assistant Professor (Physics),* *Amity University, Noida, India.*
Dear Siddheshwar, you can find detailed installation instructions for Windows at http://www.kwant-project.org/install Compiling kwant on windows yourself is very tricky, and it is better to use the precompiled packages as explained in the instructions. Best regards, Michael Wimmer
Dear Sir, Ok I will use the precompiled packages. I followed the link and tried to install it in the samee manner. The Python2.7 is installed in the default location. But when I run "pip install -U pip"..It is giving error that "pip" is not a recognized command. How to solve this? Dear Michael, Yes I have done the steps 4 and 5 both. But still "pip" is not recognized. Python is working fine, even from command line. Regards, On Thu, Sep 3, 2015 at 1:08 PM, Michael Wimmer <wimmer@lorentz.leidenuniv.nl

Dear Sir, Problem located.. I have the Python 2.7.6 installed. And "pip" comes by default ONLY for versions 2.7.9 onwards. So I will try for installation of higher version perhaps now. Regards, On Thu, Sep 3, 2015 at 1:08 PM, Michael Wimmer <wimmer@lorentz.leidenuniv.nl

From my experience, it's much easier if we install through anaconda.

Dear All, The problem of "pip" is resolved by installing python 2.7.9. However I am now facing the foolowing issues when I execute "pip install -U pip": cannot fetch index base URL https://pypi.python.org/simple/ could not find any downloads that satisfy the requirement pip in c:\python27\lib\site-packages. What is the possible cause of this? Regards, On Thu, Sep 3, 2015 at 3:24 PM, Michael Wimmer <wimmer@lorentz.leidenuniv.nl

Dear All, I am still unable to get started due to the error: from scipy.linalg import _fblas DLL load failed: ... Please have a look at the screenshot attached. Also, to the best of my knowledge, al lthe necessary packages have been already installed as per the manual and the "./install" link. I need to solve this. Personally I feel it is much easier to install in Linux than in Windows.. However I must admit that the process made available by Kwant team for Windows installation is really simple. Thanks to your efforts. One problem I must point out here is that..I checked the 1.0.0. manual and there it was mentioned that scipy-stack, tinyarray, kwant must be installed.. But I checked the "http://www.lfd.uci.edu/~gohlke/pythonlibs" link and could not find ANY scipy-stack there. Could this be a problem in my case?
