Rendering forms from HTML templates using freeform

Hi, Is it possible to render freeform forms using HTML templates instead of relying on the default freeform behavior? I need precise control of the layout of the forms -- using the default list of boxes is not sufficient. Of course I can modify the stylesheet, but I'm really looking for a way to design the form's layout totally separately from the code. Thanks, -- Gavrie.

Patch for HTMLRenderer

My co-located box is almost ready. I just have to install Python 2.3 and get DNS updated and I'm ready to run Twisted Web. I suppose I should try out Nevow and see if it is really worth all the hype. Let me explain what I want to do for my personal website, and perhaps I can get some suggestions on the proper way to go about it. I'm going to use the file system as poor man's content management system. To explain what I mean, first some ascii art explaining my idea, though the layout really doesn't matter: ------------------------------------------------------------ | Travis B. The layout will basically consist of 3 parts. The header, at the bottom of which will be the main menu. Each entry in the main menu will correspond to a directory under the top level site directory. In this case, we are on the Projects page, which is highlighted in some fashion. The 2nd part is the sub-menu on the left. The 4 main menu entries (Informant, Checkmail, ...) are each themselves directories underneath the Projects directory. The menu entries indented under "Informant" are each then files in that directory. The 3rd part is the body. The stuff that is in the body is stuff that is actually in an XHTML file, whether it be index.html or About.html in the above example. Each one of these parts is in a <div> tag, and then is formatted with a CSS file. Does this make sense? Is this a better way of doing this sort of thing? If this is reasonable, what is the best way to do this with Nevow? Thanks for the help! Travis

data="../foo", or, how to prevent adding IData to centxt

I have a renderer: def render_select(self, ctx, data): try: return ctx.keyed(data) except context.NodeNotFound: return ctx.keyed('else') Which works nicely for things like: <div nevow:data="usertype" nevow:render="select"> <span nevow:key="Writer"> <a href="edit">Edit this page</a> </span> <span nevow:key="else">HI</span> </div> However, I want to use data within those keyed nodes: <div nevow:data="usertype" nevow:render="select"> <span nevow:key="Writer"> <form nevow:data="addPageForm" nevow:render="string" action="addPage" /> <a href="edit">Edit this page</a> </span> <span nevow:key="else">HI</span> </div> This is causing nevow to try to do IContainer(directive('usertype')) so it can get the 'addPageForm' child. addPageForm isn't a child of usertype, though, so the most obvious thing to me (coming from a Woven) background would be to use "../addPageForm" instead of "addPageForm" -- but nevow doesn't support that. OTOH, I didn't need this with my old Woven implementation -- my 'select' widget used to be implemented with patterns, and for whatever reason it didn't try to look up inner models on the model used for doing the select. I think I would like select to keep those semantics. Menu flattening

Hi, I'm trying to write a method that creates a menu given the following information. menu_items = { "A": [ "a", "b", "c" ], "B": [ "d", "e", "f" ], "C": [ "g", "h", {"i": ["x", "y", "z"]} ], } This dict contains the hierarchy of menus. Eventually I'll add another list as input that indicates what is currently selected so the menus will expand and collapse as appropriate. selected_menu_items = ["C","i"] I wrote the following method which displays s simple unordered list from the dictionary. def flatten_menu(menu_items_dict): html_menu = "<ul>" for k in menu_items_dict.keys(): html_menu += "<li>%s</li>" % k html_menu += "<ul>" for i in menu_items_dict[k]: if isinstance(i, dict): html_menu += flatten_menu(i) else: html_menu += "<li>%s</li>" % i html_menu += "</ul>" html_menu += "</ul>" return html_menu Now I'm trying to implement it as a stan tree. But since I can't separate the starting and ending tags in stan I'm not sure how to implement this. This seems a bit too complex for list comprehension. Any ideas? Thanks. -Justin
