Using gettext.NullTranslations() allow to return translation.ugettext(s) also when domain, localedir or language is missing, so the result is always an Unicode object. This isn't to say that the code of the components should necessarily be intimately aware of the other components, but only that each componentized object should have a pretty cohesive purpose in life. (the same could be said about any "object", really). One of the most common misuses of components that I see is to use them for arbitrary 1:1 mappings. Hello, Thanks to Matt Goodall and Nils Grotnes, Techno Turkey's Twisted Adventure is coming along at a slow, but sure pace. See http://twisted.paisite.com/ If you scroll down to Experiments.Twisted.Web you'll see the latest experiment, Matt Goodall's Barebones Static Web Server. I've done the best I can to explicate Matt's code, but not sure that I've got it exactly right. Here're some questions: Turkey question 13: Any errors, misunderstandings, or confusing explanations so far in Adventures? Turkey question 14: In the document "Using Application" the term "service" is used in a technical sense. Could someone please give me a clear definition in plain English? Turkey question 15: In an e-mail, Matt pointed out that the Barebones code could be "easily modified into something that creates a dynamic root resource." What's the next logical step toward this goal? E.g. How can I modify and/or add to the barebones code to support dynamic resources if, say, my ultimate goal is an efficient, solid, secure production web-server that supports virtual hosts and dynamic resources? In the spirit of Moshe's Finger tutorial, I'd like to take this step-by-baby-step, illustrating and explaining key Twisted interfaces/principles as I go. Many thanks, Lloyd R. Prentice

I am trying to write a websight with nevow that spawns a process using wxreactor. However, I continually get a error saying "Reactor already installed" any advice would be most appreciated.

livepage.glue and Componentized

Hi there, helpful Nevow hackers. I just tried to convert a rend.Page-derived class into a livepage.LivePage one. My first attempt resulted in an infinite recursion. I managed to spaz around until I eventually found what I had to change to fix this, but I don't understand why my fix worked. It seems that if my LivePage object is a component of the application, and I specify either the component or the application as the root page, I get the infinite recursion when rendering the page. But if my LivePage object merely Adapts the application in a non-persistent manner, it works fine. Please see the attachment for clarification. (Hopefully I haven't reduced it beyond making sense.) Was I attempting to use something in an unsupported or undefined manner, or should it have worked the way I thought it would? TIA! Mike.

How can I retrieve passwd on ldap auth + do I need asynchronous ldap request ?

hello, we try to user nevow with ldap-auth . Users are authentified with ldap but we need to save theirs username/passwords to bind on a second phase.(the informations we'd like to modify via the application are stored in ldap directory server ). We implemented a dict to do that (Using user/pass get from the checker). But I'm sure there is a best way. Another question. Do I need asynchronous ldap-request with nevow ? If I don't return a deferred what's the matter ? thanks for your help Jean-Marc.

xmlrpc blocking

Hi, I've gone through all the xmlrpc examples I can find, and I see the use of 'defer.succeed(...)', but I'm clearly not understanding something. When I run some code that blocks, the whole server stops responding. I have: def test(foo): print "start test" sleep(5) print foo print "finish test" return 'Success' class Echoer(xmlrpc.XMLRPC): def xmlrpc_test(self): return defer.succeed(test('hello')) What should I be doing instead? Sessions with LivePage?

Hi, I'm having an issue with sessions and livepage - I can't seem to get the two working together. If I replace livepage.LivePage with rend.Page the session works as expected... I keep refreshing and the same uid appears. Why is this not the case with LivePage and how can I use sessions? Neither of the examples; chatola and liveanimal use sessions with livepage.
