[Mailman-Users] Case sensitivity and subscriber restrictions

I am a new user of mailman, and I have run across a problem. what 
appears to be happening is that when subscribing, mailman converts 
addresses to all lower case (this is bad) and then when comparing for 
valid users on a list that is restricted to posting by members, it 
does a case sensitive comparison.

Am I seeing this correctly, and if so, how ca I fix it?
