New submission from Christian Heimes <lists(a)cheimes.de>: The comment for Python/random.c:_PyOS_URandom() states > Fill buffer with size pseudo-random bytes, not suitable for cryptographic use, from the operating random number generator (RNG). which is not correct as all paths use a RNG that is suitable for most cryptographic purposes except long living private keys for asymmetric encryption. [issue17725] English mistake in Extending and Embedding Python doc page.

New submission from Kyle Simpson: The second sentence in http://docs.python.org/3/extending/index.html says: Those modules can define new functions but also new object types and their methods. The word "but" doesn't make sense here. hashlib - Missing FAQ section for hash collisions

Hello Python.org: I was reading the docs for hashlib and there is a reference to algorithm hash collisions, which the document specified would be addressed in an FAQ at the end of the doc, but said FAQ section cannot be found. quick note on ftplib for python

Hello, Quick note, ftplib gives example host ftp.cwi.nl In its documentation which is a url which is no longer active. when you try the dummy example, ftplib doesn't really output a clear error so it might be worth updating the host, (though most programmers should assume this quickly), Python 2.7 > documentation for ftplib which introduced the feature FTP_TLS gives the examplehost ftp.python.org which is possibly the ideal candidate for the change. Not really a bug, thought id save you the trouble by reporting just incase, it was something worth changing. Cheers

Typo in distutils document

Hello, I noticed a typo in the distutils module's documentation, e.g. at: http://docs.python.org/3/library/distutils.html It currently reads: " If also contains instructions for end-users..." It should read: "It also contains instructions for end-users..." Best regards, -Bo

Hi doc-team, On http://docs.python.org/3/library/codecs.html under codecs.register, I see the description: <quote> streamreader and streamwriter: These have to be factory functions providing the following interface: factory(stream, errors='strict') The factory functions must return objects providing the interfaces defined by the base classes StreamWriter and StreamReader, respectively. </quote> and am instantly suspicious: apparently, streamreader should have the interface of StreamWriter and streamwrite that of StreamReader. This is either a doc bug or a horribly bad choice of names for the .register() function's parameters ! Eddy.

[BUG]About `add_mutually_exclusive_group' in argparse module doc

Today, I read the argparse doc and find the Mutual exclusion section(http://docs.python.org/2/library/argparse.html#mutual-exclusion) has a problem The function `*add_mutually_exclusive_group*' in the section is : *argparse.add_mutually_exclusive_group(required=False)* but add_mutually_exclusive_group belongs to *ArgumentParser* object, not direct to *argparse*, maybe this is a bug?

For example, (.+) \1 matches 'the the' or '55 55', but not 'the end' (note the space after the group). This special sequence can only be used to match one of the first 99 groups. If the first digit of number is 0, or number is 3 octal digits long, it will not be interpreted as a group match, but as the character with octal value number. Inside the '[' and ']' of a character class, all numeric escapes are treated as characters.
