Creating internal region gives "TypeError" on "fun = functions[where]"

I'm trying to create an internal region apart from the main "all" region. I want to apply an internal displacement to the internal region. The code is here https://gist.github.com/wd15/58999763e00177e51481 It throws the following error Traceback (most recent call last): File "elastic.py", line 147, in <module> main() ... File "/home/wd15/anaconda/lib/python2.7/site-packages/sfepy/discrete/fem/domain.py", line 76, in _region_leaf fun = functions[where] TypeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute '__getitem__' The traceback is confusing as it doesn't inlcude the line in "main()" that fails when I use the debugger to debug this. In the debugger, it fails at line 60 omega1 = domain.create_region('Omega1', 'vertices by inner_region') while creating the subregion. What is wrong with the syntax? Thanks. -- Daniel Wheeler

Problem with example animation

I'm trying to run one of the example animations. I'm currently getting the below error. If I run it without the animation keyword, I just get a static image. internal displacement constraints

Hi, Is there a good way to constrain internal regions with SfePy, For example I would like to force an internal region of a mesh to have a fixed displacement associated with it. Is there an easy way to do this or an example that can help point the way. Thanks, Daniel -- Daniel Wheeler

Spatially varying material properties

Hi, I am trying to learn to use Sfepy for a linear elasticity problem that I need to solve. Firstly, I would like to adapt the linear elasticity example [*] to have a spatially varying lame coefficient. I tried to pass a function into the "lam" argument of the "Material" class, but this, I think, is complete gibberish def lam_fun(ts, coors, bc=None, problem=None): value = 9. * (coors[:,0] > .25) + 1. return value lam_func = Function('lam_fun', lam_fun) m = Material('m', lam=lam_func, mu=1.0) and gives the error TypeError: float() argument must be a string or a number Can anyone explain how to do this? Further question: can this example actually handle a spatially varying property? Does the "dw_lin_elastic_iso" term imply that "lam" and "mu" are single valued? Periodic boundary condition

Hi, I am trying to modify the linear elasticity example to have a periodic boundary condition. The complete code that I'm using is here https://gist.github.com/wd15/54b0b39353d7a6154983 I'm trying to fix the top and bottom y-lines to be periodic. I've created two new regions gamma_bottom = domain.create_region('Gamma_bottom', 'vertices in y < %.10f' % (min_y + eps), 'facet') gamma_top = domain.create_region('Gamma_top', 'vertices in y > %.10f' % (max_y - eps), 'facet') and also a periodic boundary condition match_y_line = Function('match_y_line', per.match_y_line) periodic_y = PeriodicBC('periodic_y', [gamma_top, gamma_bottom], {'u.all' : 'u.all'}, match=match_y_line) and added this as an argument to the `time_update` method pb.time_update(ebcs=Conditions([fix_u, shift_u, periodic_y])) However, Sfepy is throwing the following error Traceback (most recent call last): File "elastic.py", line 121, in <module> main() ... ... ... Would viennacl be a reasonable technology to use in parallelizing sfepy? <http://viennacl.sourceforge.net> I'm not sure how big/deep the changes required would be. thanks! -steve
