Hello, As our Chair Anna is a very busy person, I volunteered to write the email recapping what we've established on todays meeting. Responsibilities for Open Spaces: - check the board every 2-3 hrs for CoC violations (if there are any - take the card down & report to Anna) - keep the surroundings of the board nice and tidy - at the end of the day, put the pins and cards behind the registration booths and take a photo of the whole board to later put all the details in a spreadsheet that Anna will create We'll follow up on when to take the cards down etc. Cheers, Kinga -- Kinga Kieczkowska

Hello Kinga and Hobson, Thanks for all your hard work! Let’s not worry about finding more email addresses, I think we’re fine :) How about we meet in front of the staff room, which is room C125, at 5pm, on Sunday, May 30, for a short Open Spaces team meeting (not more than 30 minutes)? I checked Colorado, Georgia, California, Hawaii, Florida, Illinois, and Arkansas and many links were broken or didn't lead to e-mail addresses. If you have time to find a few more orgs outside the US, that might fill some gaps in my research, especially if you found groups unlikely to have much experience attending PyCon.

PyCon US 2016 Open Spaces

Hello everyone, It’s only a couple more weeks until PyCon US 2016 in Portland, Oregon! We on the Open Spaces Committee are getting really excited. We know that your group might have several members attending PyCon — and we wanted to get you thinking about hosting an Open Space at the conference this year. Open Spaces are little one-hour meetups during the three main conference days, held in free meeting rooms that PyCon provides. People come together and talk about their favorite topics and ideas like neural nets or natural language processing, or enjoy activities like yoga, painting their nails, and playing board games. Any topic that two or more attendees are interested in, or any activity that more than two people would like to do, is a great candidate for an Open Space. You may ask: what’s so awesome about the Open Spaces? They offer groups the ability to self-gather, self-define, and self-organize in a way that often doesn’t happen anywhere else at PyCon. The first opportunity to reserve an Open Space slot will be during the PyCon opening reception.
