I would like to enter Summer of Pypy with my proposal to make a javascript interpreter. I had a chat with some nice people in #pypy and they thought it was a good idea. So I checked the code and started looking at what should/can do on 2 months of work ( I don't know if there is this limitation on time). make _ssl module compile

fun with dictionaries

So part of WP06 is improving the dictionary implementation. To do this, it seemed like a good idea to find out what Python code does with dictionaries, which is what I've been working on this week. If you activate the "objspace.std.withmultidict" option, make MEASURE_DICT in pypy/objspace/std/dictmultiobject.py true and build yourself a pypy-c, you'll find that this pypy-c will create a dictinfo.txt file that summarizes how every dictionary in the program has been used. Bytecode counting patch

Hi PyPys! Here's a patch that counts the number of times the different bytecodes are used. I haven't tried doing translation yet as I can't use the work machine cycles, but it can't be far off. I've put the counts on the object space as this is accessable from most places. I've also implemented something that should resort the opcodes in the switch statement of the bytecode dispatcher according to the statistics I found. This may have a slight speed improvement. I attempted to translate a pypy-c in windows today. I had to mask out including sys/mman.h. Afterwards, I was able to succesfully translate.
