A new release of pip is out. Please see below, upgrade, and let us know
if you or your users start to have trouble. In particular, we need your
feedback on the beta of the new dependency resolver, because we want to
make it the default in the October release.
Please report bugs using this survey:
https://tools.simplysecure.org/survey/index.php?r=survey/index&sid=989272&l…
.
And please **spread the word** by pointing to this blog post:
https://blog.python.org/2020/07/upgrade-pip-20-2-changes-20-3.html --
spread the word on Hacker News, Reddit, Twitter, Facebook, Dev.to,
Telegram, relevant Stack Overflow answers, your favorite Slacks and
Discords, etc. Most of the people this will affect do not keep up with
Python-specific developer news. Help them get the heads-up before
October, and help us get their bug reports.

Subject: [pypi-announce] upgrade to pip 20.2 -- plus changes coming in 20.3

On behalf of the Python Packaging Authority, I am pleased to announce
the release of pip 20.2. Please upgrade for speed improvements, bug
fixes, and better logging. You can install it by running python -m pip
install --upgrade pip.
We make major releases each quarter, so this is the first new release
since 20.1 in April.
NOTICE: This release includes the beta of the next-generation dependency
resolver. It is significantly stricter and more consistent when it
receives incompatible instructions, and reduces support for certain
kinds of constraints files, so some workarounds and workflows may break.
Please test it with the `--use-feature=2020-resolver` flag. Please see
our guide on how to test and migrate, and how to report issues
<https://pip.pypa.io/en/latest/user_guide/#changes-to-the-pip-dependency-res…>.
The new dependency resolver is *off by default* because it is *not yet
ready for everyday use*.
For release highlights and thank-yous, please see
<https://blog.python.org/2020/07/upgrade-pip-20-2-changes-20-3.html> .
The full changelog is at <https://pip.pypa.io/en/stable/news/>.
Future:
We plan to make pip's next quarterly release, 20.3, in October 2020. We
are preparing to change the default dependency resolution behavior and
make the new resolver the default in pip 20.3.

Hello Python community!
Next month, from October 19-23, Python core developers will be
participating in our annual weeklong core dev sprint. As part of the
sprint, we will be hosting a Q&A session with participating Python core
developers as a way for us to connect and engage with the wider Python
community.
We would like the wide Python community members (you) to participate and
ask a core dev any questions about Python. https://app.sli.do/event/d4ifvw2o
Please submit your question before using the link above before September 30.
On Tuesday, October 20th, 3 PM US Central time, Python core developers will
get together (online) and answer your questions. The session will be
recorded and will be posted to The PSF’s YouTube channel.
You can see the list of participating core developers here:
https://python-core-sprint-2020.readthedocs.io/community_qa.html#core-devs-…
If you have general question about the sprint itself, please either open an
issue or a discussion item in the core-sprint repository:

Thanks for being part of this community.
Hi everyone,
The PyCon India 2020 talk schedule is out![0]
The sheer amount of proposals we received from you all over the last

rehearsal team is working double-time to get all the speakers in top
shape for making this year's PyCon India experience amazing for
everyone.

Hi all,
We’re excited to announce that plans are underway for our end-of-the-year
2020 fundraising campaign
<http://pyfound.blogspot.com/2020/09/python-software-foundation-end-of-year.…>
launching on November 23rd and ending on December 31st!
The theme this year is geared toward education. We'll be actively
supporting Python educators by collaborating with authors, trainers, and
education companies that offer their services all over the world.
Participating companies offer one (or more) products or services during the
time period of the campaign, with all or a portion (20-50%) of the proceeds
being donated to the PSF. All participants agree to help promote the
fundraiser during the length of the campaign.
For those interested in working with us, we’ve created an application
<https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/psf_python_ed> for participation. Through
the application process, we hope to have products and services throughout
the world.
We look forward to working with the community to make this campaign a
success!
Best,
Betsy
