All I can see from this is that you don't understand the meaning of the word "transport" and "protocol", since that code combines them into one class. Also that you don't really understand the way networking works (DNS certainly should not be a mixin even if we do a bad design and inherit from TCP). Oh, and that python code is wrong (you want "from OSI.Transport import TCP"). I would suggest that you do some real networking programming, then look at Twisted again.

[Twisted-Python] Things I broke

Currently two pieces of code (that I can find) rely on app.listenTCP() to bind to a unix socket if the port parameter is a string instead of an integer. This no longer works (and rightly so). However, there is currently no twisted.internet.app.Application.listenUNIX method. Adding one (along w/ connectUNIX) would solve the problem. As would using the listenWith method instead. I don't know what the thoughts on the portability of the methods in Application are - is adding listen/connectUNIX appropriate? I feel a minor twinge at the thought of using listen/connectWith for this, as twisted.internet.unix is an internal module, and it is probably wrong to use such an internal module in one of the places (Twisted.web's tap's --personal flag) and definitely wrong in the other (doc/examples/silly-web.py). These methods were intended for connectors/ports not included with Twisted, not as a workaround for missing api functionality. So... thoughts? Jp -- Seduced, shaggy Samson snored. [Twisted-Python] (incorrect) code duplication in microdom

I just noticed that microdom.Element.getElementsByTagName doesn't behave like domhelpers.getElementsByTagName; that is, it's not recursive. (This is even documented in the method's docstring.) Also, microdom.Document.getElementsByTagName has yet another implementation, and this one is recursive, but incorrect. *Neither of these implementations obeys w3c*, which domhelpers.getElementsByTagName does. It would be trivial to change both to use that code instead of doing it on their own, but microdom doesn't import domhelpers, and I assume this is intentional. Should microdom import domhelpers and use that code? We'll gain correctness, and maybe maintainability, but create a circular dependency. Alternately, the method could be moved into microdom as a top-level function, which the respective methods use. [Twisted-Python] Re: using auth over SSL with PB.

Hi all, I couldn't find any docs on using pb connections over SSL, so i played around with using getObjectAtSSL and then using the logIn but can't seem to get it working. tcpdump shows the connection initiating but nothing happens after the initial packets. [Twisted-Python] gtk2reactor and 1.99.14

Today I upgraded my pygtk to 1.99.14, and today my gtk2 application stopped working. I was trying to log in to PB, and it was going well, but the deferred for the remote "username" call in pb.authIdentity never gets triggered. You can sniff the connection and see the challenge come back over the wire, but the callback simply never goes, the client never does pb._cbRespondToChallenge. Some tests hang too, try the test_tcp module in particular. -- The moon is new, 1.4% illuminated, 1.1 days old.
