[Twisted-Python] Buildbot downtime

I am plannig to upgrade twisted's buildbot in the near future. In preperation for that, I am going to take down the production buildbot on Tuesday, June 26, around 1600 UTC[1]. During that time, the result of any builds done will be lost. Thus, I'd ask that people avoid committing to trunk during that time. hi there, folks: I'd really like to release 0.7.0 but I would like it to be at least a little bit tested before I do so. Could those of you with CVS trees check everything out and see if it performs as advertised? Deeper bugs than that will have to wait for the next release, but I'd at least like to know if it works for someone other than me. I would like to announce txZMQ, ZeroMQ bindings for Twisted. txZMQ is based on pyzmq and requires recent ØMQ version (>=2.1). txZMQ uses ØMQ APIs to get file descriptor that is used to signal pending actions from ØMQ library IO thread running in separate thread. txZMQ should be usable with any Twisted reactor. ØMQ is: * The socket library that acts as a concurrency framework. * Carries messages across inproc, IPC, TCP, and multicast. * Connect N-to-N via fanout, pubsub, pipeline, request-reply. * Fast enough for clustered products and supercomputing. * Asynch I/O for scalable multicore message-passing apps. [Twisted-Python] regarding xml elements

Hi, I have an xml file in my application, I have created an element using Example goes like this......... document.createElement("abc") and i appeneded it by using append() method. But how i can reflect this change to my xml file? and one more thing is i want to create element with some other parameters.... like............. <abc m=" " n=" "> </abc> and i have m and n values as strings with me. can anybody help me to create this element and write it to the existing xml file as a child of an existing element? [Twisted-Python] Testing Twisted code without trial

Hi, I start my pet project using Python Nose as test runner. At the start, Twisted not used at all. Later I discovered Twisted and start using it... but testing Twisted requires trial. I resist migrating to Trial and ended up with a custom code for running Twisted tests together with Nose: https://github.com/chevah/chevah-rhinoplasty I though I can share this code on the list, in case there is someone else wrestling with deferres testing outside of Trial. Hey, I'm getting the following error in my logs (lots and lots), but only after the server has been running for some time, I'm not sure what the cause is or what I can do to remedy it. I'm doing the PUT while I still have the request from a render_GET, so I thought maybe it's caused if the user disconnects while I'm doing the PUT? The idea is I redirect them to the file I PUT with request.redirect, which seems to work fine (until I get this error and it doesn't) The reason I do a PUT and redirect, instead of just writing back to the request is that I check if the file is in a cache first, I then only PUT if it's not there- then redirect afterwards. Any clues or ideas of what is happening would be hugely helpful thanks!! Paul

[Twisted-Python] maintenance release - a security issue and a regression

I think it might be time to have a maintenance release. Two issues in particular stand out which might be suitable for inclusion in a 12.3.1: <http://twistedmatrix.com/trac/ticket/6275> - This is a potential security issue which affects any twisted.web.template that uses the (recommended!) method of using a <t:attr> tag to render an attribute within a template. This might even be suitable for maintenance releases of older versions, if anyone is using them. <http://twistedmatrix.com/trac/ticket/6245> - This is a regression which affects anyone using twisted.names with 'unicode'-typed hostnames. This used to work, and, some of our own examples as well as some in-the-wild applications - mostly those using XMPP - actually relied upon it. IDNA hostnames never worked, but Python unicode-typed ASCII used to work and now it doesn't. Of course, in order to have a maintenance release with these bug fixes, several things need to happen. Someone needs to actually fix the issues. (I've written the code for #6275 but it is awaiting review; #6245 still needs to be fixed.) Someone needs to back-port those fixes to a release branch, based on the 12.3.0 tag, and file tickets for those backports. Someone needs to review the backports and get the committed to said branch. Someone needs to volunteer to be the release manager for 12.3.0. We apparently don't have any official process documentation for doing patch releases, but most of what's in <http://twistedmatrix.com/trac/wiki/ReleaseProcess> should apply. Any volunteers for parts of this process? -glyph

I have a couple questions regarding txjsonrpc ( https://github.com/oubiwann/txjsonrpc/) in connection with the recent addition of version 2.0 support. * How complete is the version 2.0 support? I had actually tried some years ago to add v2.0 support, but gave up due to some issues I no longer fully recall. Are there any known issues with the present implementation? * I noticed that all results are wrapped in an array (see netstring version at https://github.com/oubiwann/txjsonrpc/blob/master/txjsonrpc/netstring/jsonr…, but the web implementation has the same code.). This seems odd, as a jsonrpc result can be any valid json value, including a string, integer, array, or dict. The result is that on the client end, what I return from the function call as {"a": "b"} is received as [{"a": "b"}]. Is there some reason for this? Would a patch altering this behavior (perhaps optionally) be accepted? Thanks in advance for any help on these two questions. Matthew Williams
