Greetings. I stumbled upon the twisted framework while looking for OSCAR support for python. I have built a py-TOC AIM bot, that is working in most situations, but is unable to communicate with certain AIM accunts (specifically the ones inside the matrix online MMORPG). I am curious to know how unstable the OSCAR implementaion is, because I saw the warning at the top of the code. I have been gettting the struct.error (in readSNAC) that it appears others have seen. Hi everyone, We're still in the early stages of planning, but I thought I'd get the date out there as soon as I could. Following the success of the Twisted sprint in Hobart in April, we're having a second sprint. Dates: Friday 19th - Sunday 21st August 2005 Location: Sydney (venue not yet known) As with last time, there will be no attendence charge and sprinters will be taking care of their own accommodation and transport. Once we have a venue we'll have some suggestions. We'll be working on code and documentation hopefully destined for the Twisted Subversion repository. People not really familiar with Twisted are welcome but will probably at least want to have the basics down by the time of the sprint. [Twisted-Python] words/doc/examples/aimbot.py - BCFactory missing

I started playing around with the toc implementation, with hopes that it would work for my (somewhat wierd) needs. [Twisted-Python] Large blocks of data and Perspective Broker

Could someone please point me to an example of passing a large block of data (>640k) via Perspective Broker??? Specifically I want my PB server to create and return a PDF file in response to a remote method call. I guess I can just break it up into blocks and pass it that way but it seems there should be a better way. I know I saw this somewhere but am unable to locate the reference now. Thanks, Shawn

[Twisted-Python] Reactor given a dead FD

Hi again all. I asked this in the epoll thread a little while ago, but didn't get a response. Does anybody know what is the correct behaviour for a Twisted reactor when addReader/Writer is called with a dead file descriptor? Should I just silently ignore it and remove the FD from the selectables list? --- James

Hi all, First off, I'd like to say thanks to Ken Whitesell for giving me some much needed help. Here's my problem: I am using an HTTPClient instance to connect to a webpage, and am trying to retrieve its contents and display to the screen line by line, using the lineReceived method. This is all being done in an .rpy file. Also, I am using handleRequestEnd to detect the end of the transmission and call request.finish(), but it does not seem to be getting called at all - the browser just keeps waiting for more data. I've put a simple request.write("handleRequestEnd called") call on the first line of the method and it does not get written to the screen. I can't find any explanation for how to use most of the methods in the HTTPClient class in the API - is there a better way to do this (i.e. one that works!) ? I am building and xmlBlaster XML-RPC client/server to interact with the xmlBlaster server. xmlBlaster really works best if the client sends a disconnect API call before shutting down, otherwise you sometimes won't be able to reconnect the client until the next heartbeat timesout. I thought the best place way to do this would be to create a simple service that could get notified via stopService(), then return the deferred from the xmlrpc.Proxy.callRemote function for the XML-RPC xmlBlaster disconnect API call. [Twisted-Python] Difficulty with twisted.web.client.getPage function

Hey, I'm new to Twisted and I've run into a problem that I can't solve. I'm trying to write a simple Resource class that fetches a page from a specified URL and returns it to the browser. I created a class called MyResource in a .rpy file with the following two member functions: def print_page (self, html): self.rq.write(html) self.rq.finish() def render_GET (self, request): self.rq = request target = escape(request.args['target'][0]) getPage(target).addCallback(self.print_page) return server.NOT_DONE_YET When I run this script and send a request, the print_page function is invoked but the variable 'html' has nothing in it. According to the API and the examples I saw on the HOWTO section, this looks like it ought to work. Clearly I'm missing something. Any help would be greatly appreciated. - Alan Jern

[Twisted-Python] Any Message Queue recommendations

I'm writing several service processes that unfortunately need to integrate with Java, PHP, and potentially C/C++ programs (non-legacy). I've been searching for a message queuing layer that would support Python/C++/PHP and Java clients (JMS is not necessarily a requirement). Short of writing my own messaging layer with twisted :-), I looked at xmlBlaster which integrates well with all the languages but its complex configuration makes it less that ideal to use. If anyone has any recommendations, could you please let me know. Distributed message queuing combined with twisted services makes an good combination. If there isn't anything better, I'll keep trying to make xmlBlaster work and I'll contribute my twisted/xmlBlaster integration when it is polished and solid. Thanks, Ross
