[Twisted-Python] Twisted source, changes and social analysis

Hello everybody (with access to the Trac DB), I am currently doing my master thesis on the "analysis and management of change propagation in complex systems". I'm concentrating my efforts on software-based complex systems. As part of my analysis, I gather data from different domains, such as dependencies between modules of the source code, interactions between people (like, for example, this mailing list) and change requests (in this specific case, issues and tickets on an issue tracking system). A couple of weeks ago I asked on IRC if it would be possible to get the Trac data from twistedmatrix.com and I was told to write a script to dump the database by excluding sensitive information. The script is up for review and auditing over here: https://gist.github.com/GaretJax/5264941 It can be run by saving it to a .py file or directly with the following command: curl -s https://gist.github.com/GaretJax/5264941/raw/c478c2c4ec39cdb4bc3ceeb05d57a3… | python - <projenv> <outfile> (by replacing the two arguments: trac base directory and the output file). There are no privacy concerns, as all data being analyzes is publicly available, either in the repository, in the mailing list archives or on twistedmatrix.com After being reviewed, can someone with access to the server please run it for me? Hi, I am Jiabao Wu, 1st year postgraduate student in Australian National University. At the end of last year, I graduated in B.IT in ANU with double major of Software Development and IT in New Media Arts. I am currently studying a course of free and opensource software development. This has boosted my passion to contribute to the FOSS community. I am going to apply GSoC and OPW. In the mean time, I would like to start contribute to Twisted. The "Maintain a sub-project" sounds really fun to me and seems within my capability. "Rewrite twisted.web.client.getPage using Agent" also looks cool for me. If I import a deprecated module and then run the test-suite should I be seeing an error? I think that I should be seeing an error, but I am not. I am not sure if I am doing something wrong or if my local environment is weird. Thanks, RJ

Hi, I sent this message to your GSoC mailing list, but I'm not sure if that's active yet or anything, so I figured I should send it here too. My name is Max Haarhaus, and I'm a student at Stony Brook University in New York. I'm interesting in working on Twisted for the Google Summer of Code. I have experience in Python, including some web development using Google App Engine, and I have taken classes in computer networks, so I have some knowledge of internet tools and protocols.
