CVSToys version 1.0.3 has been released for your software consuming pleasure. The biggest changes are in the chat and web-based notification clients. Sending commit notifications to an IRC channel is now possible without the hassle of an intermediary Words server, and the web/RSS interface has been updated to work with recent versions of Twisted. Also, if your commits list has found it difficult to deal with commit messages coming from different addresses, it's now possible to specify a fixed address to put in the From header. I've found this Feb-'02 post in the Zope3-dev archives ... http://lists.zope.org/pipermail/zope3-dev/2002-February/000516.html Seems to say that Twisted and ZEO do not mix. $@#$!@* This post is almost a year old, so I'm wondering if anything has anything happened since it was written. Has the release of Standalone ZODB prompted something, said he hopefully. Is the potentially blocking nature of "ZEO commits" the problem? Or is the handling of the "ZEO cache invalidation", er, messages? Or is it something else entirely? Thanks, Mike.

[Twisted-Python] ZEO/Twisted?

I'm considering using ZEO/ZODB to backend a Twisted server. I.e. as transactions arrive at the server, they are stored thru ZEO into a ZODB database. Is this combination (ZEO/Twisted) known to work/not-work? Any info/pointers appreciated. Yours drowning in technology, Mike.

[Twisted-Python] 1.0.2alpha4 test failures on Alpha, PPC

As part of preparation for a CVSToys release, I installed Twisted on SourceForge's compile farm machines. (At least the ones with suitable versions of Python.) I got a boatload of Errors running tests on their Alpha machine, and a few Failures on their PPC box. Results can be seen in the 'tests' tarballs/directories at http://twistedmatrix.com/users/acapnotic/wip/ This generates some suggestions for Trial: I didn't see a file with the quick OK/pass/fail summary in it in the _trial directory, instead I made a runtests.out by redirecting stdout and stderr. It'd be nice if runtests generated such a thing alongside test.log by itself, though. Also, does trial record stats on the environment it's running in? Host platform, python versions, etc. That might be good. Quick list of offenders: under Alpha: FTP, names, test_policies, test_smtp.LoopbackSMTPTestCase.testMessages, test_tcp.ConnectorTestCase.testUserFail (twice?), test_udp.MulticastTestCase.testInterface. under PPC: testFileRebuild (twisted.test.test_rebuild.RebuildTestCase) testReconnect (twisted.test.test_tcp.ConnectorTestCase) testFailing (twisted.test.test_tcp.LoopbackTestCase) "But-it-worked-on-my-machine"-ly, - Kevin -- The moon is full, 99.4% illuminated, 15.5 days old.

That's exactly what I am proposing! :) Look at the class "DoesHandleTimeoutsByItself" -- that's exactly what it does, register an errback to a method such that it can cancel what it's doing so that it never tries to do a callback or another errback. What bothers me most isn't that an exception is being raised, but that it is impossible to reasonably catch that exception unless you subclass or otherwise do some nasty modifications to the reactor, deferred, or whichever class causes the exception. -bob
