[Twisted-Python] What is blocking code?

When I started coding I though I will just add the deferred calls where necessary later. Now it seems to me like I have to change the whole architecture of my app. I am running twisted as a Web-server to serve .rpy files. In these files I create quite complex html pages. In that process I also access a database. So when I tried to adapt to the adbapi I encountered proplems because: Starting from the .rpy file I call a method, which calls a method, ..., which calls a method, which eventually calls a method that queries the database. ->So where does my blocking code start? Is it just the last method that queries the db or is it the first one of the chain? ->Is there a way to make my db call deferred without reversing the whole method chain? ->Why don't I just make all the code in the .rpy deferred? Help very much appreciated. _stephan

Hello. I have server and a lot of clients, that connects to server and pass their pb.Referenceable. Every 2 minutes server calls clients' remote method. I store clients' references on server in a list of dictionaries - [{'remoteRef' : ref, 'ip' : '192.168.1.2', 'mac' : '...'}, ....] I call notifyOnDisconnect on clients' remoteRef. In callback i need to close client's firewall. How can i pass 'ip', 'mac' from dictionary to callback if notifyOnDisconnect passes only one parameter(this instance) to callback method. [Twisted-Python] Magical Disappearing Transport

Hi - I have a client factory and protocol written for TCP connections, and whenever I try to transport.write(), it tells me that the transport == None. The only time that I can successfully transport.write() is in my protocol's connectionMade method. My protocol inherits from protocol.Protocol, my factory inherits from protocol.ClientFactory, and otherwise, my code pretty much follows the examples. What causes the transport to be set to None? I feel like I'm missing something very basic, and I'm new to twisted, so I probably am. =) Thanks, Linden

[Twisted-Python] pb.Referenceable and disconnection question

Hello. Can anybody help me with the following? I have server an lot of clients, when they connect(SSL) they pass their pb.Referenceable to server. Server every 2 minutes calls clients' remote method checkpoint(). The problem arises when i disconnect network cable from client side(WinXP) or from server side(linux redhat9.0) - with disconnected cable, server makes remoteRef.callRemote("checkpoint") and i don't get pb.DeadReferenceError exception(no exceptions at all, it prints that it's ok). Only after 15-18 minutes i see on server exceptions that connection was lost. Your help is very, very appreciated. Thanks in advance. P.S. Client side(i use notifyOnDisconnect method) detects losing of connection after 3-5 seconds, but server side... I use twisted 1.0.7rc1 Best regars, Ruslan

Thanx to the dude who answered my last post :) When i get some time i have to try and put into practive wxpython suggestions I took the form processor example from the sandbox and made it do something. It returns a dictionary with all the form variables in it when form is posted. I am not really sure what am i supposed to do in this function. Like in this instance would this be where i could stick variables into a data base ? The method FormProcessor(self.formSignature.method(self.proc)) appears from the code to be able to take a second arguement where i can add my own view. If no view is added it uses the view that is provided by default. It would be kinda nice to have my own view, how would my own view be able to access the variables that are posted from the form. FormProcessor also appears to be able to take a 3rd arguement that is some sort of error view, what type of errors would happen, and how will they be triggered. FormProcessor looks like the smart way to handle forms. Unfortunately I seem to be missing a few pieces. Well i will keep on plugging away at it :) Hmmmm well anyways i am kinda lost i will think about being lost some more :)) Thanx
