Hi, I am interested in integrating Twisted's FTP server and Zope 3. I have seen the bug report http://twistedmatrix.com/bugs/issue983 and it mentions work that was done on a common VFS layer for Twisted. [Twisted-Python] Raise soap faults

I have a soap server that I am trying to make handle errors correctly. When there is an error I just return a SOAPpy.faultType instance. The client should correspondlingly raise a python exception when it gets this. Unfortunately it looks like twisted is returning the faultType instance as a valid response. Here is the returned SOAP: *** Incoming SOAP ****************************************************** <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <SOAP-ENV:Envelope SOAP-ENV:encodingStyle="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/" xmlns:SOAP-ENC="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/" xmlns:SOAP-ENV="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/"> <SOAP-ENV:Body> <pdbChainFileCompressedResponse SOAP-ENC:root="1"> <SOAP-ENV:Fault SOAP-ENC:root="1"> <faultcode>ArgumentError</faultcode> <faultstring>Invalid PDB Code</faultstring> </SOAP-ENV:Fault> </pdbChainFileCompressedResponse> </SOAP-ENV:Body> </SOAP-ENV:Envelope> ************************************************************************ and the python result literally is: <SOAPpy.Types.structType Fault at -1213565780>: {'faultcode': 'ArgumentError', 'faultstring': 'Invalid PDB Code'} So the soappy client is treating this as a valid return value, and not raising an exception like it should. [Twisted-Python] API docs?

Hi folks, I'm looking forward to getting started on some development with Twisted, but ran into a little snag. I downloaded TwistedSumo-2005-03-22.tar.bz2, and was browsing through the "doc" directory and found that the "API reference" link was broken. Turns out there is no "doc/api" directory in that tarball. I also tried grabbing the source from SVN, and running "admin/epyrun", but it bailed out with: INTERNAL ERROR: Cannot create a UID for a str without a base UID. So I'm just wondering, is there a way to get the API docs for Twisted 2.0, or were they omitted from the tarball because they're broken right now? Thanks, Neil.

Hi, There was a discussion here recently about registering a callback to be called prior to shutdown (using addSystemEventTrigger), and I just wanted to ask, what does Twisted allow before shutdown, and what gets stopped in the middle; ex. if I want to do something prior to shutdown that involves communication with some server, and hence a deffered chain, how do I make sure that it gets a chance to happen? It receives connections from clients (channels). Upon receiving new connection service remembers the connection. Each connection can bind to specific event(s). This is achieved by sending <bind> event. After the client binds to event, it will receive event notifications whenever a dispatcher receives such events from any client. It is similar to GUI messaging systems. I have a few questions: 1. Do I have to use deferreds? And more importantly - HOW? I am worried that one slow connection could have impact on other connections. I definitely want to avoid this. (service is only dispatching events - there are no DB or filesystem operations) 2. What if I try to send event to recently closed channel of which I am not aware yet (connectionLost could be inside a long queue perhaps - am I talking any sense?). 3. How can I assign some kind of ID to automagically created EventChannel? I guess id(obj) is not good enough. 4. I'm curious: is there any limit to the number of open connections? Could twisted on Windows handle 10,000 or even 100,000 concurrent connections? (I will test this, but maybe somebody has some kind of real life example) Thanks, Qvx

[Twisted-Python] Domain Filter Suggestions

Hi, I am working on a soap service that I am wanting to implement a domain filter on. Basically, if I get an IP I do not know, I defer a reverse dns lookup and accept their request. The defer does the reverse dns lookup and records whether they were a .edu or not. If I get another request from the same IP I reject or accept their request based on the previous lookup. I have an implementation that is pretty much working, but for some lookups I get an error since the machine does not have ipv6 enabled. (Why is this a dependency?) Here is a little code based on previous postings on rdns. from twisted.names import client addr = '127.0.0.1' # any ip goes here ptr = '.'.join(addr.split('.')[::-1]) + '.in-addr.arpa' d = client.lookupPointer(ptr) d.addCallback(lambda ans, auth, add: log.write(ans[0].payload.name)) Is this approach stupid? :) Any suggestions as to the cleanest approach to this are greatly appreciated!
