[Twisted-Python] Question about Twistd and PYTHONPATH

Hello Folks: This is my first time using twistd. I have daemonized a server by creating a TAC file. When I execute the server (first I ran it out of its development directory), twistd -y server.tac I get: no module named Reporter (Reporter is a class) when I run a non-daemonized version of the same server, I have no problem. I checked my PYTHONPATH. It seems to be properly set. I tried setting the path using sys.path. No go. Is there embarassingly simple that I am missing? Is there something I should be overriding? [Twisted-Python] LDAP server based on python

Hello, My goal is to be able to access contacts that are into a (open source) CRM from any LDAP compatible client (mostly email clients that can access an LDAP server as a shared contact database). This is a fairly simple LDAP server, mostly implementing search on emails and get contacts back (+a very simple ACL). I read a post from Tommi Virtanen a (few) years ago http://twistedmatrix.com/pipermail/twisted-python/2005-May/010484.html And found more information on : http://www.inoi.fi/open/trac/ldaptor I've svn checkouted ldaptor, and did find ldaptor/protocols/ldap/ldapserver.py However, I'm kind of lost now and didn't find any examples (or discussion), and was wondering about the status of the ldap server. If this is still active, could you tell me where to find more info and hopefully some examples ? I saw this thread: http://twistedmatrix.com/pipermail/twisted-python/2008-January/016534.html about "ldaptor and bind" If I read properly, the ldap server is something for testing, but not production ready (eg no security/acl implemented by default). Am I right ? Did Ottavio Campana manage to have something working and did he publish the result of his modifications ? In short, is there a simple example of a server with a sql backend, that implement searches ? thanks in advance, Xavier

Hi all, My application receiving a file through a socket. How can i save that file to my own folder or path. Should i create an object of that? [Twisted-Python] Python C API version mismatch when importing twisted

Hello, I got an error message when I'm trying to import twisted in python2.5 on a Debian Lenny machine. The error is: "RunetimeWarning: Python C API version mismacht for module _zoper_interface_coptimizations: This Python has API version 1013, moduel _zope_interface_coptimizations has version 1012." I installed python2.5 from source next to the standard debian python2.4 into /usr/local/lib/python2.5, redirect the link /usr/bin/python to /usr/local/bin/python2.5. Thats working, but when I try to import twisted with "import twisted" I receive the error above. Importing zope works just fine. All I found on the net was that there might be a problem with the two installations of python next to each other. But if so, how can I get rid of python2.4, because I need python2.5. Is there no chance to use both versions parallel? The Version of the zopeinterface is 3.3.1-5, python is 2.4.4-7 and 2.5.1-6, twisted is 2.5.0-2. I am fairly new to Debain and Python and I am really stuck. I hope someone can help me. I would appreciate it big time! Regards, Torsten -- Psst! Hello, I am currently part of a MMORPG project in python, using Twisted and python-ogre. I found some posts talking about the cohabitation between the two. However I couldn't find a definitive answer. What I am seeking for is more a general method than technical details. What I would like to do is to put properly Twisted and python-ogre together. To do that I have already tried the following ways : - First run python-ogre in the main loop. At a time, this loop launches the twisted reactor in another thread with Thread(target = sthg_which_runs_reactor.run). The problem I am experiencing is described here [1]. The sendLine method is executed immediately, but the data is received by the other side only 20/30 seconds after. - So I tried not to run Twisted in another thread, by using the way described here [2]. Twisted is given the main loop and the rendering is done frame by frame with the coiterate. It works sometimes, the renderOneFrame in the coiterration is not really working. But it seems more logical to run ptyhon-ogre in the main loop and twisted on the side (in another thread for example, as soon as the client has decided to connect to the server). Have you any ideas how I could do this properly (with threads, without threads, with the coiterrate ...)? If Twisted was originally made for MMORPGs, why the reactor wants so much to be in the main loop and to manage itself the other threads (with callInThread for example)? This filesystem is encrypted and distributed over multiple peers in such a way that it continues to work correctlly even when some of the peers are unavailable, malfunctioning, or malicious. This is the successor to Allmydata-Tahoe v0.7, which was released January 8, 2008 [1]. This release improves performance, diagnostics, and packaging. This release of allmydata.org "Tahoe" will form the basis of the next consumer backup product from Allmydata, Inc. -- http://allmydata.com . With Tahoe, you can distribute your filesystem across a set of computers, such that if some of the computers fail or turn out to be malicious, the filesystem continues to work from the remaining computers. You can also share your files with other users, using a strongly encrypted, capability-based access control scheme. This release is targeted at hackers and smart users who are willing to use a web user interface, a command-line user interface, or a FUSE interface. (Or a RESTful API. Just telnet to localhost and type HTTP requests to get started.) Because this software is new, it is not yet recommended for storage of highly confidential data nor for valuable data which is not otherwise backed up. However, it works well in practice, it comes with extensive unit tests [2], and there are no known security flaws which would compromise confidentiality or data integrity. This release of Tahoe is suitable for the "friendnet" use case [4] -- it is easy to create a filesystem spread over the computers of you and your friends so that you can share files and disk space with one another.
