Hello. I've got my application working nicely (well, the linkage to postgresql still needs work) and it looks sort of like: if __name__ == '__main__': root = Resource() root.putChild("dynamic",MyDynamicResource()) root.putChild("",Redirect("/static/")) root.putChild("static",static.File("/path/to/me/webpages")) site = server.Site(root) appl = Application("whatever") appl.listenTCP(8081,site) appl.run() What I'd like to do now is have this act like a deamon where I run a command like: server start # starts server, and then returns server stop # stops server server reload # reloads server also including functionality of logging to a given file and rotating the logs as necessary. Anyway, I'm sure there is shell script magic to do this or I could copy the deamon example in the ASPN Cookbook... http://aspn.activestate.com/ASPN/Cookbook/Python/Recipe/66012 But, I was wondering if there was a simple thing I could inherit from which would do such a thing automagically. Clark P.S. Yes, I suppose this is what that "taps" thing is all about... however, it doesn't seem to do the deamon management well (it doesn't do stop/start/reload, right?)

[Twisted-Python] serving up a directory

Twisted looks pretty neat... I'm exploring it as we speak. Is there a Resource which I can i add to my resource tree to recursively return static content in a given directory? It really wasn't obvious how to do this... without using the "tap" stuff. What I'm kinda looking for... root = Resource() root.putChild("dynamic",MyDynamicRequest()) root.putChild("static",StaticRequest("/var/htdocs")) Anything like this monster? So I can do... webserver/static/something.gif and it returns /var/htdocs/something.gif Thanks! Clark

[Twisted-Python] SOCKS via TCP Transport - Still in great doubt

Hello twisted-python, I am still in great doubt regarding implementing SOCKS via TCP transport. Though example in sandbox/ipv6.py is not using new connectWith function, it declares Connector which is also used by connectWith. I have already this construction: Connector, Factory and proxying Protocol which switches to another proto after SOCKS is connected and it works but reports NOT about ALL errors, so I get more and more hanging client satellite records with the flow of time. These satellite records have to be deleted after connection calls back about success or failure, but in case when error occured before protocol is switched, I get no error/success report and lose one satellite record every such error. -- Best regards, Dmitry mailto:kwaker@uch.net

I try to run the very beginners example Case Study "Twisted Quotes". 1. I make Direktory TwistedQuotes with quotetap.py, __init__.py, quoteproto.py, quoters.py and plugins.tml files as described 2. On Windows (NT) running in TwistedQuotes directory python C:\Python22\Lib\site-packages\twisted\scripts\mktap.py qotd fails with Unknown command: qotd Are there known problems, workarounds for windows environment? Chris and I have been looking at hotels in the D.C. area with an eye towards affordability and proximity to GWU: the best we've found so far is a Best Western in Arlington: assuming 3 to a room, it'll be around $30/night/person. Hotel webpage: http://www.bestwestern.com/prop_47096 the Big Win is that this hotel is half a block from the metro station: http://www.stationmasters.com/System_Map/ROSSLYNS/rosslyns.gif and is only one stop from the GWU metro station. As for transportation costs: wmata.com indicates most trips on the metro within the downtown area will be $1.10 each, whereas coming in on Monday afternoon from BWI will be $4.10, and returning on Saturday will be $3.25. I'm going to buy a $20 farecard and would recommend buying at least a $15 card; we discovered the hard way last year that you cant share them :) The ride on the metro between BWI and Arlington is about two hours, so schedule accordingly. Chris, Travis, and I have talked about doing some sightseeing on Tuesday; times and destinations not yet decided - possibly the Library of Congress. Anyone else interested such an excursion? Another unresolved issue is food: I've heard rumours that food will be provided at the conference but nothing definite. Also, I know some people will insist on hunting for sushi. :) Finally, i've been told to encourage people to register soon; apparently everybody is putting it off. :) If anybody has a better idea or if I've forgotten something, please speak up :) Allen

Hi, I couldn't find any reference to methods/overrides I would need to implement in my Application. to actually do some processing on specific signals... is the flag in .run() just disabling some previous call to signal assigning a default handler? Primarily I'm looking to implement an in-process re-initialize, log-rotation and to catch the shutdown so I can terminate another process before exiting. Thanks in advance for any assistance!
