Would it be worth adding a comment that the block of code is an inlined copy of deque_append()? Or maybe even turn the append() function into a macro so you minimize code duplication? semantics of subclassing things from itertools

Hi I would like to know what are the semantics if you subclass something from itertools (e.g. islice). Right now it's allowed and people do it, which is why the documentation is incorrect. It states "equivalent to: a function-or a generator", but you can't subclass whatever it is equivalent to, which is why in PyPy we're unable to make it work in pure python. Hash computation enhancement for {buffer, string, unicode}object

Hi All, This is Alecsandru from Server Scripting Languages Optimization team at Intel Corporation. I would like to submit a patch that improves the performance of the hash computation code on stringobject, bufferobject and unicodeobject. As can be seen from the attached sample performance results from the Grand Unified Python Benchmark, speedups up to 40% were observed. Furthermore, we see a 5-7% performance on OpenStack/Swift, where most of the code is in Python 2.7. Attached is the patch that modifies Object/stringobject.c, Object/bufferobject.c and Object/unicodeobject.c files. We built and tested this patch for Python 2.7 on our Linux machines (CentOS 7/Ubuntu Server 14.04, Intel Xeon Haswell/Broadwell with 18/8 cores). Windows x86-64 embeddable zip file, Feedback

Hi, had some time to test the new distributed stuff for Windows especially the embeddable zip. Thanks for this special distribution, it is very useful to generate standalone Python distributions and software based on Python. Very good work. I detected two minor issues only affecting size, opened tickets for them: http://bugs.python.org/issue25085 Windows x86-64 embeddable zip file contains test directorys http://bugs.python.org/issue25086 Windows x86-64 embeddable zip file, lot of big EXE files in distuils Think this can be an improvement in size, targeting for Python 3.5.1.
