encrypted mailing list

Hi, I've been playing around with the idea of making software for an encrypted mailing list that would be based around GPG. Each mailing list would have its own public key. All members of a list would have to submit a public key on subscription. When incoming mail is received, the mailing list software would decrypt the email and then re-encrypt with the public key for each of the members of the list. Has anyone played around with this idea? Has anyone already done a working concept? I was just curious, and I wanted to throw the idea out there. Thanks! Regards, Tom

Strange Subject: handling

Good day! I've started to use Mailman in my production environment. I am impressed of its huge number of features ! Thank You for your job. But I have discovered a bug (or I missed something in mailman tuning). When a message with certain Subject: arrived to list from one of subscribers, the message silently dies and nobody receives any warnings. If I changed only Subject field of the message - then the message had passed happily. Moreover, if I've changed only encoding of a message (from windows-1251 to koi8-r) the message passed again! patch verification

Hi Developers, Can anyone verify this patch ? https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=300103&aid=694902&group_i… Without this patch, MIME digest message will be delivered with links to the saved attachments. With this, the attached file is included in the delivered digest mail. I think MIME digest should be delivered latter way and this patch should be included in the next release. A person who applied this patch claims that this caused every message to be shunted. blankety-blank AOL bounces (not accepting mail from...)

Mailman 2.1.1 Apparently AOL has a "feature" that you can use to bounce email from certain senders. See example below. Aoluser123 (email address aoluser123(a)aol.com) is not accepting mail from jkl(a)gryphongardens.com who has posted to list abc(a)gryphongardens.com in this example. On verped deliveries, this bounce is counted as a bounce for aoluser123(a)aol.com On non-verped deliveries, this bounce is returned to list-owner as unrecognized. While I like the idea of having the aol user bounce off, it's probably not the correct answer. Probably all of these bounces (verped and non-verped) should be silently discarded. I guess this is a feature request/bug report. Take a look at www.londonfreelance.org/indynet for an example - which not only uses a style sheet but also ECMA scripting - strongly encouraging people to introduce themselves to the list and proofreading their email before hitting the server for example. If cordis wants to licen{c|s}e the error-checking code I expect I'll discount it for the usefulness of your service :-) Now, to everyone else... where do I get to play with the templates for the archives? I know they're in there somewhere, because of internationali{s|z}ation discussions here. I'm using MM running on an ISP's machine, so I can't just grep for them... Mike Holderness

notify disabled not working; bad subscribed address problem

Howdy, As near as I can tell, the bounce_notify_owner_on_disable option is not working. At the moment, even though it is set to "yes" for lists, no notifications are being sent. Unsubscribe notifications are being sent, however. I have double checked the list option, and switched the options around, to no avail. This was a conversion from 2.0 to 2.1.1 (what I'm currently running) in case that makes any difference. Problem No. 2, had to do with a e-mail address that somehow got subscribed with a non-ASCII character and it. I cannot delete the address, either on the web site or any other way, as best as I can tell. list_members breaks: prompt% list_members thebody [ names up to hm... ] Traceback (most recent call last): File "list_members", line 232, in ? main() File "list_members", line 207, in main s = formataddr((name, addr)).encode(enc, 'replace') UnicodeError: ASCII decoding error: ordinal not in range(128) Any python gurus who can suggest a simple fix to at least get the entire list enumerated? I suppose I don't really need to unsubscribe the bad address as long as I can list everything. Otherwise, 2.1.1 has been functioning flawlessly. Bounce detection is much better, as well. Digest delivery scheduling

still having admin cookie problem

I'm running MM 2.1.1, and am *still* seeing the admin cookie problem - when I go to accept/discard posts that were held for moderation, select the option for each one, then hit submit - it then takes me *back* to the password entry screen, I have to enter the admin password *again*, and then do it all over and hit submit a second time before it will take effect. Password reminder envelope source address strangeness

It appears that my lists' password reminders are being sent from a now bogus (but previously valid) envelope from address. I can't seem to track down where it's getting the ancient address from. All the list traffic has the correct envelope from address, it's just the password reminders that are b0rked. This is with mailman from CVS on 2002-11-11, FYI (yes, I should upgrade, I know...) -- Carson
