implicit destination message?

Hi everyone. I recently received a note from a person strongly suggesting that error messages be put into the documentation. Is there a place where the error messages are all laid out so that I could whack together descriptions? He was particularly disturbed by the "implicit destination" error. Cheers, --chris

Locking (oh no!)

So, with the latest CVS (really, I swear this time), it seems trivial for me to create a locking deadlock. This has happened four times in the last five minutes. Scenario: 1) go to admin/ link 2) while admin page is downloading, go to admindb/ link (on same page) The admin process dies, but still holds the lock; the admindb process spins waiting for the lock. Granted, it's easier for me than some to get to admindb while admin is still downloading, but... Is something about the browser/webserver combination killing admin in such a way so that its lock cleanup stuff isn't working? Who's supposed to clean up the lock if the process dies an early death for some reason? (Or is this where the lock has to be broken?)

I tried to re-root by changing $mailmansrc/CVS/Root, but it turns out there's a CVS directory in every subdirectory, so while things in the top level were coming from Sourceforge, things in the lower levels were still coming from python.org. Eeek, now I've got a mongrel Mailman running. Wish me luck as I try to dig out of this one!... Ignore my bug reports from yesterday; they're probably all bogus.

There's been a *lot* of discussion about similar things wrt MLMs in general (qmail/ezmlm call this "VERP"). What it means is you must send N different messages, where N is the number of subscribers on your list, whereas now you send 1 message with M connections, where M is usually significantly less than M. So you drastically increase both filesystem and network load to do something like this.
