Hi, We manage a rather large list which has a number of people who are reponsible for answering posts to the list. These people however are not all interested in receiving mailman admin mail. Is it possible to prioritize the order in which mailman sends out posts to the list of subscribers? This way, people who need to receive the mail first can get it quickly, before general subscribers receive the mail. is there any other way to find this out? I'd already killed my source tree after a month of running successfully. Now correct me if I am wrong, but it would seem that you would be able to change the "Host name this list prefers" to whatever your want it to display on the from domain. Here is the excerpt from the help... host_name (general): Host name this list prefers. The host_name is the preferred name for email to mailman-related addresses on this host, and generally should be the mail host's exchanger address, if any. This setting can be useful for selecting among alternative names of a host that has multiple addresses. I use this on a single machine where I have multiple domains that also use mailman for mailing lists. Have a great day. setting up mailman

I have the following problems: 1) my mail server (sendmail) is mail.domain.com and the mail address are @domain.com but the mailman uses @mail.domain.com How I can delete the word 'mail' from the addresses of lists/owner/admin ?? 2) the newlist show me a text to include into the /etc/aliases. Archived attachments not converting

Hi! We use mailman distribution lists to send out attachments to people around the world. I noticed that these attachments when viewed in the archives using Netscape are showing in line rather than converting to an attachment you can read. Is there anything I can do to change this? Most of the email addresses in the lists are accessed using Outlook, and I also send out the attachments using this program. Hope someone can help.... Cheers, Danielle.

Mailman and Sendmail 8.10 Beta 12 - sorry if its a bit redundant

Many of you who have upgraded to the new Beta version of sendmail have had or are still having problems getting mailman to run. The problem lies with smrsh itself. I had asked for help on the sendmail news group and had received an answer quite promptly on how to fix the problem and get Sendmail to play nice with Mailman. With the new smrsh, the directory to put links in to allow programs to run was moved. from default /etc/smrsh (this is what I had) to /usr/adm/sm.bin you can keep this and create new links or copy the compiled programs in to that directory, or you can change it. To change it you: cd /wherever/sendmail-8.10.0.Beta12/smrsh vi/emacs/other_editor smrsh.c locate this bit of code /* directory in which all commands must reside */ #ifndef CMDDIR # define CMDDIR "/usr/adm/sm.bin" #endif /* ! CMDDIR */ and change it to wherever you like recompile by doing ./Build and install by doing ./Build install See if mailman runs correctly. If not look in your maillog and see what the problem is. Most likely it will be sendmail complaining about the wrapper/script wanting the wrong gid. Feb 20 13:58:51 doink Mailman mail-wrapper: Failure to exec script. WANTED gid 12, GOT gid 2.
