Hi. I'm a new member of this group but have been running an email list with Mailman for a long time. I am now setting a list up again and want to give a "look and feel" to the list which has more branding of my user group as a whole, and less of a Mailman-feel. I seem to remember that besides editing the public HTML pages, it is possible to edit the text files which Mailman automatically sends out for certain needs (such as 'approve.txt', 'adminsubscribeack.txt', 'invite.txt', and so on). A. Is this still the case? B. If so, where can I find them? (in case they've changed from the ones I have from long ago). C. Where do they need putting, so that Mailman can use them again? It's important that I should tell you that Mailman on my webhosts servers is a "server-wide" installation, and I don't get to edit anything which other clients to their servers need. This would be only for my own use, and as such I need to know where these files go in my own webspace, and how to get Mailman to use them instead of the default ones. I should also say that I have done this before, so unless the facility to do this has been ditched in recent years, I *should* still be able to do it ! Does Mailman perhaps look for these files somewhere in my webspace (which I have to give a specific name), and if it doesn't find them it goes on to find its default versions of these files? Running two list with same email prefix

Hi all, I'm running a mail server with Debian Lenny, MTA is Postfix and i will use postfix-to-mailma.py script to run list I would set up Mailman for running mailing list with same email prefix on different domains, obvious with different list names For example we have ml.domain1.com and ml.domain2.net, i would like to have LISTADDRESS LISTNAME tech(a)ml.domain1.com tech-ml.domain1.com tech(a)ml.domain.2.net tech-ml.domain2.net In this way i can have the same address on differente domains and Mailman (my version is 2.1.11) can distinguish between lists because the list name is different. The list name will be also used to access web interface, so we have http://ml.domain1.com/mailman/admin/tech-ml.domain1.com http://ml.domain2.net/mailman/admin/tech-ml.domain2.net Is possible to accomplish this task? Any idea?

Hide list address?

Hi, Is there any way to configure Mailman such that, for an announcement-only type list, when a message is sent to the list, the To: shows the member's address, rather than the list address? Some list software allows the ability to hide the list address itself, so that address is not advertised. I couldn't find any configuration specific to that.

Hevy resource footprint forces backdrop to mailman 2.1

Greetings, after many years of smoothly running a mailman2 instance I had to migrate my virtual server to a new provider. There I found, that mailman2 was no longer supported and tried to migrate to mailman3 .. with much pain and no success. Mailman3 keeps crashing my v-server and swallows almost every mail sent to any of the migrated lists. So I wanted to switch back to mailman 2.1.39 by installing from the source package and found that this also fails due to missing python2 support. How to solve this? Thank you very much

About Suddenly Unsubscribe users from my mailing list

Hello Everyone, i need your help, the thing is some users are suddenly unsubscribe from my mailing list, even though my list's automatic bounce process is also turned off, so can anyone please tell me possible cases that why they are suddenly unsubscribed ??

Yes, I know a little behind in version updates. Any rate, I am trying to at least slow down the bots which are hammering our subscribe pages. The challenge (and it’s all me) is in getting baby steps to work. I am looking to start with SUBSCRIBE_FORM_SECRET, but honestly just don’t get the definition of a “non-empty string” The default is SUBSCRIBE_FORM_SECRET = None If I replace None with anything else, I get the following when I try to restart mailman Traceback (most recent call last): File "../bin/mailmanctl", line 107, in <module> from Mailman import mm_cfg File "/var/lib/mailman/Mailman/mm_cfg.py", line 167, in <module> SUBSCRIBE_FORM_SECRET = random NameError: name 'random' is not defined — Tom Coradeschi tjcora(a)icloud.com

Hi Everyone, I’m very new to Mailman and I’ve not been able to find an answer to my question. My question is “ I have a mail list but I do not want anyone replying to the mail list but I’d rather they reply directly to myself. Can anyone advise how I set the “BCC” option when sending to the list? Thanks in advance G.

migrations questions

Greetings all - My current build is running Mailman version: 2.1.20, on a long-in-the-tooth Scientific Linux release 7.9 (Nitrogen), with sendmail I'd like to go RHEL9, and Mailman 3.3.8 (Tom Sawyer), with postfix, on a new parallel VM - plan is to build a parallel server, same hostname, different IP, migrate all data/archives and billing info (we have that scripted), then do a dns change to point to the new IP after testing. Are there any means of scripted migration from old to new? Can I go from 2.1.20 direct to 3.3.8 - or do I need to go to 2.1.39 as an intermediate first? It's a service we provide, and we like to keep the our level of interaction to a minimum, so 2.1.20 was the first built "I" did back when RHEL7/SL7 was in it's early days. Going latest would fill that mold for us for a while. I'm currently looking at the wiki.list.org, but am having troubles locating Mailman3. version Site Admin doc - they seem to be v2.1 - I could be missing them. Mailman's Functional Spec for users

I'm new to Mailman and looking for how it treats address headers. Mailman CC'd a sender's subscribed address and I want to know if publishing this address is the intended behaviour, rather than BCC. My problem is with the docs at wiki.list.org/DOC/Home. I haven't found a description of what a list manager does in terms of what behaviour to expect in use, rather than during configuration by users, manager or site admin. The concept of a list manager is explained at www.list.org/mailman-member.txt, but not the basic operation. Page 'Introduction - What is GNU Mailman?' belies its heading and is focussed on 'How do I...' (e.g. 'How do I spell Mailman?'). I found only Reply-to headers mentioned in the List Administration Manual. There's a lot to search and I don't know my way around as a developer. Where should I be looking?
