BTW how can I add taglines, i.e. random strings picked frpm a text file
where they lies every one on a separate line. ALmost every list manager
has tag lines administration, but I did not find them in mailman...

One of my associates set up content filters to reject attachments and other
things. He created a custom message to explain this. Now he wants to change
the message, but I cannot locate which file in /mailman holds the text (and
I did look at all of them). Can somebody tell me how I could find it. I do
know text fragments.
Thanks!!!

Upgrade script broke (not the first time).
from Mailman import MailList
from Mailman.LockFile import TimeOutError
from Mailman.i18n import _
I'm getting error:
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/lib/mailman/bin/update", line 51, in ?
from Mailman.i18n import _
ImportError: No module named i18n
It doesn't balk on the line before, so it doesn't seem to be a path
issue.
When I comment that line out (for grins), it balks on:
from Mailman.Queue.Switchboard import Switchboard
from Mailman import OldStyleMemberships
from Mailman.MemberAdaptor import BYBOUNCE, ENABLED
Any clues?

Hello, all.
I have around 300 mailing lists and more going up all the time. For
each list I setup, I have to setup some defaults for our company such as
listadmin, do not send pass reminders, digest options, etc.
My question is, is there a way to set my particular defaults to be the
defaults for a newlist creation? So when I create a new list, all the
settings that I usually have to go into and change for each and every
list would already be there?
I have created a custom admin page with just a simple text box with
"Create List". this way, only I can get to this page and to add a list,
I simply type in the name and hit submit to create the list. If I could
get it to have all the defaults I normally have to change and have them
setup by default, it would make for no hassle management.
If anyone knows where the defaults are stored for a list creation, or
how to change all of the defaults, please let me know.
I finally figured out my error -
The missing configuration was in mm_cfg.py
The mailman list was not defined.
All is working now.

Recently several of the mailing lists we run have developed a strange
problem when generating the pipermail web archive pages. For a period of
about ten days or so, all mail messages posted to the mailing list appear in
the web archive with a subject of "No subject".
When I view the actual messages through the web, they're not complete - in
most cases the first few lines of the message are missing, and in some cases
the entire message is.
If I copy the relevent mbox for the list and open it using my mail client
(mutt), it opens fine and it appears as if all the mail messages are
complete. mutt indexes it as I remember the actual postings being, complete
with subjects. The same is true of all lists that have this problem.
I suspected that the indexes were corrupt, and so I ran arch --wipe on the
list to rebuild the archive in the hopes that it would fix the problem.
Unfortunately it didn't.
We're running mailman 2.1.3 with the July 2003 RSS feed patches from
http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=657951&group_id=10…
Any help or suggestions people might give that will help me regenerate the
archive indexes properly would be appreciated.

Howdy!
I'm experiencing similar errors to those described by Stephen Gran early
in December as well as these:

I'm fumbling a bit, really, making my question simple - how can I debug
this problem further? What seems to be the problem?

I want to install this tool to make my mail list public for other users
on my Company Network, but, I don't know how to install it or manage the
.tar file that you send to me Because I'm not too expert about linux's
systems. If you got some documents or something to help me I'll
appreciate it.
