Too many pending requests?

I can't get to the pending request page for a mailing list. (My web clients just say "waiting for response" and finally give up.) I think it is because there are too many pending requests after some problems. (config.db is almost 10MB.) How can I do this some other way?

Folks, I've just released Mailman 2.0.4 which is simply a patch release so that Mailman works better with Python 2.1. Mailman 2.0.3 had a few constructs which caused warnings when run with Python 2.1. The unfortunate part is that those warnings could occur in the qrunner process which tended to cause cron to bombard the system administrators with email. If you upgrade your Python to 2.1, you should definitely upgrade to Mailman 2.0.4, otherwise consider it optional. As usual, I'm releasing this as both a complete tarball and as a patch against Mailman 2.0.3. You /must/ update your source to 2.0.3 before applying the 2.0.4 patch. Since the patch is small, I'm including it in this message. To apply, cd into your 2.0.4 source tree and apply it like so: % patch -p0 < mailman-2.0.3-2.0.4.txt Currently both http://mailman.sourceforge.net and http://www.list.org are updated, and I expect the gnu.org site to be updated soon as well. qrunner running twice?

Hello all, I've followed the instructions in the INSTALL file to setup Mailman version 2.1a2 but when I tried to subscribe to the test list I don't get a reply to confirm subscription. And the mailman-owner account gets the following message every minute: ... Subject: cron: /usr/bin/python -S /home/mailman/cron/qrunner Another qrunner is already running, exiting. Anyone been through this that can give me a hand? My old mailing list is not working after installation on a new distro.

I'm having a problem with mailman 2.04 running with exim and apache on a mandrake distro. Fortunately, it is no longer the standard hard link problem. :) I read the FAQ and the README.LINUX and ran the secure_linux fix. One thing that took me a bit to figure out is that you have to run that script with a -f. If you don't, it outputs some information, but it doesn't actually output a usage line telling you it didn't run properly. When it didn't fix my problem, I went looking in the file and discovered the -f requirement. :) Anyway.. my problem is that I used to have mailman running on a redhat 6.2 distro and I copied the entire home directory over to the mandrake side. I downloaded the latest mailman and installed it over that. After a few tweaks and such, I've got newly created lists to work fine, but my old list cannot be administered. It hangs if you go to .../admin/listname . The listinfo/listname page comes up, but if you try to add your name to the list, the results page comes up with the message stating that the subscription was deferred for approval, then the "We hit a bug" message appears. The log file reports that a "No such file or directory error" occured. Big problems with stale lockfiles on large list...

Running Mailman-2.0.1, with Python 1.5.2 on a RedHat 6.2 machine along w/Apache-1.3.14 and Sendmail-8.11.0, and am having some serious grief with stale lockfiles on one of our lists. List contains ~60k addresses on it, and has constant traffic to the WWW administration pages. Not high volume for sending msgs though (only one or two a day) as its a broadcast/announce list. I'm finding, though, that the WWW processes are regularly creating stale locks that sit around and hold everything up. For fun, I tried using "ab" (ApacheBench) to fire up five concurrent "subscribe" requests to our box, and saw that it regularly ended up creating stale locks and blocking out the rest of the system. Worse yet, I'm not seeing any useful information in the "logs/errors" file, nor am I getting anything useful in "logs/locks" (other than seeing that some process got a lock, did its thing, and then shut itself down _WITHOUT_ releasing the lock). >From reading through the notes in "Default.py", it outlines that the locking timeouts are probably one of the most important things that can be "tuned". I'm not, however, having any luck in finding information that outlines how these values should be tuned for BIG lists. I'm presuming that what I'm running into is more of a config/tuning issue than a serious bug, as I'm sure I can't be the only person running lists this large. It has a knock-on effect of making the web interface unusable because the qrunner process perpetually has the list locked (maybe this is a clue). The python qrunner process seems to be running most of the time pushing my load average above one constantly - it runs for its fifteen minutes and then gives up. At some points during a lull of several hours in mailing list activity it will stop of its own accord and everything will settle down. What settings are you using for the mailman-checkins list? I'm trying to duplicate your results for our project's cvs-commits list. Any help is appreciated. Thanks. Background: I'm using syncmail (v3.1.5 by Barry Warsaw) for our project's cvs-commits list. I'll update to v3.1.6 later today. I followed the SourceForge documentation to set it up, but it doesn't have any information on the proper settings for Mailman. Should I take this up with the SourceForge staff instead? international version of mailman

Hi! We've been waiting for more than a year for the international version of Mailman.... is there any chance that it´ll be realeased soon? I know that there´s some support in 2.1 alpha version, but i´d like a final release. Thanks in advance

Dumping emails based on subject rather than holding them?

I host a list (sunmanagers) where direct replies to the list are not permitted - only initial question posts, and then summary posts with answers. So, every 3-4 days, even though reply-to is set to the original poster, I have to go in and delete 20-30 Re: messages through the admin interface.
