Implicit destination

One of our lists has someone post to it whose mail is held, with the error: Blind carbon copies or other implicit destinations are not allowed. Try reposting your message by explicitly including the list address in the To: or Cc: fields. But as near as I can tell, she *is* putting the list address in the To: field, it's just been munged (presumably by Micro$oft LookOut) to have quotes in funny places. Here's what the To: field looks like from the listname.mbox file (edited to protect the innocent): To: "list(a)icpsr.umich.edu" <'list(a)icpsr.umich.edu'> Are those unnecessary single quotes inside the "<...>" confusing Mailman? I installed Using Mailman version 2.0.11 on solaris9 and works fine. Now , we are in process to replace our web server with a linux computer on which I installed mailman-2.1.9. How can I migrate all the mailing lists from the old version into the new one and how can I use the old aliases build when a new list is opened on the new aliases form ?

aliasing for another domain

I have been hosting a some mailman list for years now, and now we are looking into getting the list from list(a)mydomain.com to list(a)newdomain.com. Here are some specifics: The new domain already has a mail server and hosting web pages. My idea is like like this. I've tested it and it seems to work fine, but am wondering if there is a more correct way. * Make an mx record at "newdomain.com", such as "list.newdomain.com", and give the new mx record the "mydomain" IP address. * Add "list.newdomain.com" in my mx virtual domain table. * Add all mailman's aliases in my mx's virtual table. * Change the "Host name this list prefers for email" line in the "general options page" to "list.newdomain.com". My questions are: Is there an easier way to alias all of mailman's aliases, such as for admin, bounces, confirm, join, leave, owner, request, subscribe, unsubscribe? Also, the web interface will still be at "mydomain.com", which should not be a problem, I guess a cname could be done for "list.newdomain.com", but then I don't want to have that much control over that subdomain, just mx for it.

I would like to be able to somehow convert my mail list to an RSS feed. I'd like to find a solution that is fairly simple. Handling Auto-Receipt Notifications

Hi, I'm setting up Mailman for an organization where it's common practice to have mail user agents automatically send back receipt notifications. In other words, there's no getting around auto-receipt notification. How does one handle the case where a subscriber's MUA automatically sends Receipt replies to each email received including emails from mailing lists? I've gone through the admin configuration scripts and can't seem to find anything. Closest I found was in the Bounce options. -- Richi Plana

One of my lists sends mails (subscription, unsubscriptions etc.) using "username(a)domain.tld-bounces" address, where "username(a)domain.tld" is an email address defined in: MAILMAN_SITE_LIST = 'username(a)domain.tld' Because of this added -bounces at the end, the mails are of course rejected. I have a script for each mail system that, every 15 minutes, sends a mail message to the system. For Mailman, the mail is sent to a Mailman list that I have created. That list has one subscriber - the e-mail address from which the test mail originates. The mail, if Mailman is working properly, will receive the posting and then send it back to the single address. The script, after sending the mail, waits up to 10 minutes for the return mail to appear in the Unix mailbox. If the mail does not appear in 10 minutes, the script sends alert pages to the Mailman support personnel. If I start getting pages from many of the 12 mail system watch crons, I know that either there is a big networking problem or the mail system from which I send the crons is having problems. Making sure MailMan is running...

Hi Everyone... I have looked around on the web and haven't found any info that I understand about making sure that mailman is receiving and sending e- mail that is sent into it. I just had a situation where on my site (With real low volume lists) that it was not sending mail since the 11 of december... Would it be best to watch for the qrunner process and make sure that's running? Or is there a better way? I'm planning on writing this into a Widget (For all you Macintosh people out there) if I can find a good way to make sure this is up and running. Custom handler error

I am trying to implement a custom handler and referring to http://www.python.org/cgi-bin/faqw-mm.py?req=edit&file=faq04.067.htp for doing so. I insert the GLOBAL_PIPELINE.insert(GLOBAL_PIPELINE.index('Moderate'), 'MyHandler') line in mm_cfg.py and restart the qrunner as /usr/lib/mailman/bin/mailmanctl restart However the handler does not get inserted in Defaults.py I am using RHEL FC7 and mailman is installed in /usr/lib and /var/lib.
