Hide list address?

Hi, Is there any way to configure Mailman such that, for an announcement-only type list, when a message is sent to the list, the To: shows the member's address, rather than the list address? Some list software allows the ability to hide the list address itself, so that address is not advertised. I couldn't find any configuration specific to that.

Add "sender's name/email" to BODY of mail as header?

I want all mails sent to the list to come from the list's email address... But, in this case, if the user forgets to sign their name at the bottom of their mail body, effectively the mail to the list is anonymous...! Is there a way to add the user name (or email address) to the top of each mail so that the mails have the name of the sender, while the mail itself comes from the list address? I have looked high and low for an answer, but noone seems to have the solution. Thank you! Mal

Setting MIME as default for new Non-Digest subscribers

Hi - I have searched FAQ and archives to find an answer. Hoping you can help. I have a new list (with previously imported addresses) for announcements only, and wish these announcements to be received immediately. I set the defaults to allow non-digest and to not allow digest. I wish to send out announcements in html, and so wish to make the default for new subscribers be MIME. While I see a setting under Digest Options (MIME_is_Default_Digest), I don't see any equivalent option under Non-Digest Options... and new subscribers continue to come in as plain text. QUESTIONS: In order to avoid having to manually change this option for each existing subscriber, is there a way to force all existing subscribers to receive MIME in Non-Digest mode? If not, is there a way to force all NEW subscribers to be enrolled with MIME as their default? Also, is there a way to "lock" the MIME switch on, so that users who try to change their option to plain text will be prevented from doing so? Thanks - Steve

Changing the received time on an outgoing authorized email message?

When authorizing a moderated list posting is it possible to change the date/time on the outgoing authorized list message to the time it was approved instead of the message showing the time it was first received by mailman? Thanks Paul

Where is the template for monthly password reminders?

Where can I find the template for the monthly password reminder email? I'd like to modify it so that it doesn't contain the password (our members object to this being sent unbidden in plain text), and so that it reminds users to make sure their subscription address matches the address from which they currently send email (ideally with a link to their personal options page so they can update). -- Michael R. Virtual Domains for Mailing Lists in MailMan

Hello I found this E-Mail address on the MailMan homepage and decided to contact you as I don't seem to be able to locate the information I need elsewhere. To explain my circumstance. I am a visually impaired person, trying to get to grips with administrating a mail server under Apple Mac OS X 10.5.7 (Leopard) server. I need to host mailing lists under virtual domains hosted on our server but can't see quite how this is accomplished. Is there anywhere I can obtain this information as Apple's documentation on this subject seems poor from what I've seen. I really do apologise for any inconvenience I may cause you by contacting you - but if you could point me to the relevant information pages as to how to accomplish virtual domain list configuration under Apple's server platform I'd be very grateful. As a blind person this information is not always easy for me to locate. Thank you in advance for any help. Gordon

Mailman 2.1.5 on RedHat Linux - How can I set up a new list that sends to multiple existing lists - but only sends one message to each person - even if the person is a member of multiple lists? a. LSOFT calls this a "superlist" b. Can "Mailman" do this? c. In this case, we have a system newsletter that will be sent to multiple lists. I'd like people to receive the message only once, even if they are on more than one of the lists included in the mailing. Mailman, Qmail -> Large Message Lost

I am running - Mailman 2.1.9 - Qmail - CentOs - MySQLdb module I have been able to successfully send a mail to my list members, who are stored in a MySQL, database. This worked when there were eight members. Now that I'm trying it on a production level with approx. 200 members it doesn't work...or, at least, it hasn't after the first 45 min. SMTP_MAX_RCPTS = 500 There are currently only 157 members in my list. /var/qmail/concurrencyremote is 250 /var/qmail/concurrencylocal is 30 Could anyone help me improve this performance?

Hello, I think this is my post to the Mailman Users mailing list. Hi everyone! :) I supposed this would be a FAQ, but I can't find it in Mailman's web site. My question is: "Is there any email command (or other way) that allows you to be e-mailed a past message (or messages) that was sent to a Mailman managed mailing list?" Browsing the Mailman list archives, I could only find a reference from September 2002 (almost 7 years ago!) from a user (Fernan Aguero) asking the same thing, but not getting a reply: [Mailman-Users] add to whishlist? http://mail.python.org/pipermail/mailman-users/2002-September/022243.html I know that ezmlm has a "-get" command for doing this: EZMAN-0.32: ezmlm Commands http://www.ezmlm.org/ezman/ezman5.html >From that page: ---------------------------------------- -get Get a message or range of messages from the archive. Without argument it returns the messages since the latest digest. To retrieve a range of messages, use list-get.123_234@host(*). At most 100 messages are returned. mailman and group mismatch error

Hi, I am running Centos 5.3 with all of the updates. I needed a mail list server so I installed mailman and postfix. I did yum install postfix and yum install mailman. postfix installed and can send email to my live account so it is working. mailman is installed and I can goto my server and subscribe to a list. I get the confirmation email from mailman. However when I try to post I get a group mismatch error. I have done a google search and everyone says to recompile with the proper ./configure. I installed from packages. I would rather not have to recompile. Everything seems to be ok except I can't post. # /usr/lib/mailman/mail/mailman post mailman Group mismatch error. Mailman expected the mail wrapper script to be executed as one of the following groups: [mail, postfix, mailman, nobody, daemon], but the system's mail server executed the mail script as group: "root". Try tweaking the mail server to run the script as one of these groups: [mail, postfix, mailman, nobody, daemon], or re-run configure providing the command line option: '--with-mail-gid=root'. # /usr/lib/mailman/bin/check_perms -f No problems found So what did I do wrong? And why isn't check_perms detecting the problem. >From what I read on the internet this is a very common problem.
