Archives not showing complete email message

Hi I am also getting the following where the body of an email should be in the list archives: Skipped content of type multipart/alternative-------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... Name: not available Type: image/jpeg Size: 4631 bytes Desc: not available Url : http://<server-name>/mailman/private/sgul-students/attachments/20071210/bb270a69/attachment.jpg <http://mailman.sghms.ac.uk/mailman/private/sgul-students/attachments/200712…> The URL actually works and links to a small corporate JPEG conatined in the email. I have seen the thread "Mailman and UTF8" in the mailman-users archive but couldn't fathom an answer and not sure about applying the patch. Is there anyway of getting list messages such as this to appear readable in the list archives? Thanks paul

Mailman HTML text format

Hi, Mailman default setting is to converted all HTML to plain text; however, our users would like to send out messages with text format. We changed the Content Filtering settings to: Should Mailman filter the content of list traffic: Yes Remove message attachments that don't have a matching content type: multipart/mixed, multipart/alternative, text/plain, html Should Mailman convert text/html parts to plain text: No The list still removes the text format even with these settings. Am I missing a setting? Thank you,

forwarding messages from one list to another not as attachments

We need to forward moderated emails from one list to another more appropriate list. However they always arrive munged up, losing the originators email address and with the text as an attachment. I.e. looking pretty crap. This must be a common requirement however I can't find anything in the FAQ and all I can find in the archives is this with no answer: http://www.mail-archive.com/mailman-users@python.org/msg24118.html I always get a quick reply to these queries often simply pointing to me to a FAQ I have missed, I think it may be different this time! Bounce Processing Emails

Because of excessive spam, I've done what so many of us have had to do, I set the catch-all on my domain name not to go to my inbox. I have a few dozen legit usernames set to come to me. Because some non-spam slips through, I send the leftover usernames to another mailbox I read irregularly (the spam assasin program catches about 3000 spams a day to that mailbox, leaving me with a handful a week to sort through). Now that my main lists were migrated to Mailman today, I discovered that notifications of bounces are being sent to my catch-all mailbox. For some reason, MM makes up a To: address. Here's an example: immune-bounces+immune=cunews.carleton.ca(a)immuneweb.org The email address of the subscriber whose email bounced is: immune(a)cunews.carleton.ca My domain name is immuneweb.org and the name of the list is immune. Obviously, I can't make email filters for every single one of my subscribers. But I'd like to see the bounce messages. Is there a way to get MM to simply send the bounces to an address I specify, or just to the list-owner which is specified elsewhere? Thanks, Cyndi

Phantom Moderator Requests

Hi All, We have a mailman install which keeps sending phantom moderator requests, when we login to the admin interface there are no messages awaiting moderation. Can anyone tell me where the reminder script is seeing these messages and why the admin interface isn't seeing them? Cheers! David

Mailman never replies to e-mail

I needed to compile Mailman myself because the Debian version had 'www-user' compiled-in as the web user, and my setup uses SuEXEC and SuPHP to get different users and groups for every user. I've got the web part set up, for the greatest part, now. Digest question

MM 2.1.3 Solaris 9 I have only one list on mailman that wants to use the digest facility to send out digests twice a day, at 8.15am and 1.15pm, monday to friday. I know senddigest is entered in cron but should other lists want digest ability they may want different times dates. Do I need multiple cron entries for senddigest? Is senddigest configurable? Can I pass in command line parameters telling senddigest which lists to send digests for? Thanks Paul

Restoring lists on newer version

Hi All-- My server suffered a catastrophic hard drive failure. I have backups (unfortunately, two weeks old, but that's better than nothing), but when the server was restored I was forced to upgrade to Fedora 6 (from 4) and to Mailman 2.1.9, where it used to be 2.1.5 (I think). I also have Plesk, through which I make new lists; once the lists are made, their administration is exactly like a normal Mailman installation, except for the locations, which I know. List aliases are made by Plesk. What's the best procedure to restore my lists? I've got a dozen, but only three have significant traffic. Do I copy the backups to the proper location and then make the lists with Plesk, or do I make the lists first and then copy the data in? I also have significant customization of the admin and info pages; can I rescue that without too much trouble? Or do I have to transfer all the custom modifications by hand? (It's all appearance, by the way; nothing affects Mailman operation in any way.) Thanks very much for any advice at all.
