Trouble enabling HTML messages.

Hi. I have a mailing list running in GNU Mailman version 2.1.11 I would like for my users to be able to send HTML emails to the list. In the section called "Content Filtering" I checked "No" to the question ++++++++++++++++++ Should Mailman convert text/html parts to plain text? This conversion happens after MIME attachments have been stripped. +++++++++++++++++++ And I checked "No" for the question ++++++++++++++++++++++ Should Mailman collapse multipart/alternative to its first part content? (Edit collapse_alternatives) ++++++++++++++++++++++++ No luck. The HTML still gets strippped . Is there anything else I can try? Thanks in advance Steve

Site administrative broadcast to all lists and all list members - server wide

I have searched for a way to send a "server-wide" broadcast message to all admins and subscribers and found the following (which I have yet to try): "Send a message with an Urgent: header that contains the admin password and it's supposed to be sent as a direct message to all subscribers" What I find a but confusing is how to specify an "Urgent" header. Does this person mean to say place "Urgent" in the subject line with the Admin password? In other words, I am not sure how to specify or manipulate a message's "header" with Mailman. Anybody have any ideas/thoughts or am I missing something obvious? Thanks for any and all help - Brandon

glitch or something I missed?

I setup mailman and I have a user that sent me the following: === I am the list administrator for several deckplates in District 13. Yesterday I had 2 submissions (different subjects) by the same person to 3 different deckplates. When I went to approve them, both messages were there but there was only one big box covering both messages to approve, discard, etc. Usually there is a separate approval box for each message. Anyway, I checked approve on all 3 deckplates, but only the message with the earliest date was released. I've never had this happen before. Usually there is an approval box for each message and I have released several at once in the past. Is this a glitch in the system? === Did I miss a config option maybe? Bob

Iphone and Mailman

Hello, I'm using mailman 2.1.9 on a suse11 linux server with qmail und i found a strange behaviour: whenever i send an email to the list via the mail.app on my IPhone, sent images are lost. when i send the same email to that list with Mail on my macbook, everything is okay. since mail works normally and mail.app send its pictures via email to other people, it seems to be a small problem with the parsing of an iphone mail. Is there anything known about that or a workaround? i googled und used your manuals but haven't found anything. best regards Jan

Code comments

Given that definitive documentation for Mailman isn't really consolidated in one place, I often find that the code comments in the Mailman program files (~mailman/Mailman/*) can be very helpful in answering questions or solving problems with Mailman. I've worked with code in many languages that is so cryptically commented, with variable names that were so non-descriptive (Dan Bernstein's qmail code comes to mind) as to be totally useless if one wanted to look under the hood for help. Mailman code is quite the opposite - well organized with copious comments which can be very helpful if one knows even a little about the program structure. Searching across lists and making global changes

Have multiple mailing lists under one domain Is there any way to search across all lists for a certain member and make a global change to their email or name? As an administrator, if a user changes their email, I often have to search each list for the member to locate them (1) and then change their info (2) Thank you. -- Brian J. Mark has been helping me with this off-line but I thought I would send this to the list to see if there are others who are aware of the solution. I have been using the following on a clean install of Mac Server 10.5.8 and upgrading Mailman 2.1.9 to 2.1.12: ./configure --prefix=/usr/share/mailman --with-cgi-gid=_www --with-mail-gid=mail --with-mailhost=domain.com --with-urlhost=domain.com --with-var-prefix=/var/mailman --with-groupname=_mailman and get the following error: ***** Installation directory /var/mailman is not configured properly! ***** Directory must be owned by group _mailman: /var/mailman /var/mailman is has the settings root:wheel while the files inside are root:_mailman. Do I need to change the group of the /var/mailman directory for the install? I know that change is probably not significant, but I an not sure enough of my knowledge to know. Once I get this right, I plan on upgrading a 10.6.2 production server running 2.1.12rc1 to 2.1.12. Thanks! Help with an error

Migrated mailman from one box to another with a slight name change on the virtual hosts. Ran: 3) bin/withlist -l -r fix_url <listname> -u <www.domain.tld> to fix the web page URLs 4) 'bin/arch --wipe' 5) 'bin/genaliases' to create the alias file. In attending to a subscription request to a sunsetted list (the request came before the migration) via the web interface, I received an error. Problem with mailing list

Hi there - I have been having problems with my MAILMAN mailing list that my hosting service believes is a MAILMAN related problem rather than a hosting one. I can't post to the list, though the support staff at the hosting service can... My message gets to MAILMAN but disappears into the ether once it has been approved, and isn't showing up in the archives. The list is brillante(a)brillante.com.au.
