I have one little thing to workout , Each time I send a message I gets help for "Implicit Destination" but correct me if I am wrong but I turned off "Administrivia filter) Check postings and intercept ones that seem to be administrative requests? Changing list options under script control?

OK, here's what I'd like to do. I can appreciate the steps necessary, but I don't know python, which means I don't know exactly what to do. I need to set the options for a site from a program, rather than from the web page. This is because we run a number of sites, each of which should have a postmaster-only list associated with it. To add a new site, I need to specifically run newlist, edit /etc/aliases, run newaliases, then go to the new list's web page to change the options. Id' like all of this to run from the script which adds a new site. I realise that I need to modify ~mailman/lists/listname/config.db (I think? I may have the filename/path wrong - I looked this up yesterday). However I can't find the fragment of python code which does this. Any hints would be gratefully received. If it really is mailbox (mbox) format - ie each message separated by a "From<space>user date", then just give that file to the mailman arch program as per any other archive. removing /mailman/ from URLs

I've set up a separate domain (lists.domain) just for mailman, and an Apache virtual host for it. The following Apache config <VirtualHost IP> ServerName lists.domain Alias /pipermail/ /var/mailman/archives/public/ Alias /index.html /var/mailman/index.html ScriptAlias / /var/mailman/cgi-bin/ </VirtualHost> works, in that http://lists.domain/listinfo http://lists.domain/admin http://lists.domain/pipermail etc. all do the right thing. And http://lists.domain/index.html returns /var/mailman/index.html But I can't find any way to get http://lists.domain/ to return that page (which is basically just links to /admin and /listinfo). Is there an equivalent of DirectoryIndex for ScriptAliased directories? Any other ideas? Many people do "guess" domain names, so keeping them as simple as possible is I think useful. Danny.

Importing email into mailman

I would like to import a netscape mailfile into mailman so it can appear in the archive. The mailfile is in the typical mailbox format. PLEASE Help!...Relay problem/RH6.0/Sendmail

Geem I hate to be whiny but I need to get this fixed pronto. My lists users can all receive list mail, but those who are posting from ISPs outside of our state education network can neither subscribe or post (some lists were setup with auto subscriptions, and they can get the list mail) I've asked them to send the error messages they are receiving from their server. Everyone of them say User Unknown Relaying denied. I'm fairly new to Linux and do not yet know all the ins and outs of sendmail. Can somone out there PLEAASE tell me exactly how to fix this? I'm running RH6.0 and sendmail. Also, this server is a secondary mail server on our network, very few accounts, mainly setup as a mailman server. A big TIA. Any way to enforce global settings for mailman?

Mailman will let list administrators set the "maximum length of a message body" for their own lists, but I want to override individual list administrators and set the maximum length on a global basis for all the lists on my system. attachment counts toward length limit?

Hi everyone. When you set the maximum length of a message body in the general settings, would attached files count toward that? For example, if I have a 50K limit on the message body and someone sends a 100K attachment will it go through? Cheers, --chris
