'auto' mode for new subscribers?

Mailmen - I installed 1.2 from CVS today and noticed there does not appear to be no 'auto' option (as majordomo has) for the var 'subscribe_policy'. I don't want/need a confirmation for each sub request. I just want the subscription to be automatically approved and the list welcome message to be sent. Is this a planned feature or does someone have a clean patch for this? The mailing lists I run will be internal to my company so confirmation of subscriptions is not a large concern. (In fact it's been noted on the current majordomo lists that many people are *confused* about the confirmation reply!) A second but related question. Is there a command to email list-request(a)here.com that will subscribe a user and not require that user to confirm the new subscription? All - (This bounced the first time, if it's a dup sorry!) I'm looking to have the url to the list members options page appear in the email footer of each message from the list. error in admin section

Mailman 1.2 release date?

Greets all - I've been lurking for a month now and it sounds like Mailman 1.2 will have many improvments and features over the current 1.1. release. I'll be making the transistion from majordomo to mailman but figured it would be best to wait if 1.2 is around the cornor. Can anyone here tell me the status of 1.2? Is there a tenitive release day/month/year or should I just install 1.1 as 1.2 is a ways off still? Installing Mailman on a Virtual Host

Bill, I went ahead and made the changes to my configure and configure.in files. WHen I run configure, I get through the checks for the new mailman UID and GID, but it stops at the next step which is where it checks the directory permisiions. The error I get says: File "conftest.py", line 4, in ? mailmangid=vuser NameError: vuser cat: conftest.out: No such file or directory configure: error: ***** Installation directory /usr/home/<mylogin>/usr/home/mailman is not configured properly! But when I check the directory, the permissions are set just as they are supposed to be according to the install (d rwx rws r-x, right?). What is the NameError? Did I miss someplace else where I was supposed to change the GID? Thanks, Joan
