Problem accessing list admin interface

Hi, I'm having problems accessing the admin interface for one of my lists. I'm moving lists from my (mailman based) mail system to another mailman system. Both systems run mailman v2.0. I want to copy two particular lists. I had a look at the archives of the mailing list to get some pointers on how to do this (I think this should be in the FAQ). There, somebody suggested simply copying the ~mailman/lists/mylist directory and the appropriate directories from the archives dir. I copied the files from mylist directory on my system to the mylist dir on the other system (config.db etc). I then tried to load up the admin interface to see if the configuration of the list had changed. I got the login page with a big error message saying that there is a bug in mailman. I guessed that this might perhaps be to do with my not configuring the archives properly so I ignored it and tried to log in. I could not gain access to the admin interface and every time I tried to load up the admin interface to this list my browser simply hangs. I've reverted to the old files in that dir and even killed the list and recreated it, but to no avail. All the other lists on my system appear to be working fine. Has anyone got any ideas what the problem could be? TIA, Sean.

David, This is a known bug in HTMLFormatter.py, where some of tags are set in the html file (eg subscribe.html) and others are set in the actually Mailman code. It may be fixed in Mailman 2.0.6, will definately be fixed in 2.1. If you do a search through the Mailman-Users archives you should find a number of threads on the topic. umbrella list issues

I'm just automating about 50 lists with mailman and, as far as I can tell from the documentation and archives of this list, there are problems with umbrella lists. Am I correct in assuming that mailman (as of 2.0.5) doesn't treat umbrella lists differently except in the way it addresses reminders to the list owner? If so this would seem to have some major drawbacks: * Duplicate emails to members of multiple sub-lists * Modification of the subject line and addition of footers by multiple lists in a list hierarchy. * Requirement to authorise messages to umbrella lists multiple times. The last one is a real killer for us. Say I set a 40KB limit for all lists and then want to authorise a larger message sent to an overall master list which has nearly 30 sub-lists nested up to three levels deep. It looks to me like I'm going to need to authorise the same email 30 times! I've seen discussion on this subject in this list's archives with a suggestion for mailman umbrella lists to properly understand sub-lists. This would mean having mailman expanding list membership for umbrella lists in a single step rather than just sending email to each of the mailman sub-lists. This would solve all of the above problems. Wrapper gid problem

Hi. I´m using Mailman with Redhat 7.0, with Qmail and Plesk as general administrating tool. I installed Mailman till the point of create test list. I can subscribe emails to that list, ok. I created aliases through Plesk and then edited the .qmail field with the corresponding function for each one. When I send message to the list or to any of the other aliases, I get this error in /var/log/maillog: Failure to exec script. WANTED gid 10033, GOT gid 110. (Reconfigure to take 110?) Hello, I am working on a project for my company in which a group of people will be sending email that needs to be sent to the rest of the group (typical mail list). However, I need my members to be able to send emails with attachments, so the the email, with attachments can be viewed, archived, et... Will Mailman allow me to use attachments? Thanks, John

One message in ./qfiles hold up entire show (qrunner)

I noticed messages were not being processed by mailman to my MTA. I'm running Mailman 2.0.6 and python: Python 1.5.2 (#2, Jul 11 2000, 07:30:30) [GCC 2.95.2 19991024 (release)] on freebsd4. Because I don't want to spam the list with tons of message text, the messages that caused mailman to hang are located here: http://smtp.schulte.org/smtp/mailman-bad-messages/ I will leave these up for as long as their required to debug this problem. Is this a problem which I can fix, or perhaps some bug? I see similar message in the list archive from 6-12 months ago, but nothing new. Thanks, --chris

GID/UID problems...

Is there any way to teach wrapper to just shut up and accept from most any user? I had it working, then it isn't then it is. If not, what's the best uid/gid to teach it to run as? --Will
