I'm send mail message with outlook to mailman list with msg_header setting, but not is visible, if I'm using other email client(Thunderbird) is visible. How do this possible ? Automatically creating short URL's?

Folks: Has anyone considered the idea of using one of the URL shortening services (tinyurl.com, etc) to automatically process URI's in messages processed by mailman? When people on my lists post URL's, they are quite often long and unwieldy ... it would be nice if I could automatically translate those long URI's into shorter versions. Thanks! david

Archives Forbidden

I have a new installation I'm testing. I'm on a fresh install of ubuntu, mailman compiled from scratch. Mostly working now, but the mailing list public archives are show as forbidden in my browser. The data is actually there in the folders, stored in private and symlinked to public. I've run permissions check and everything is OK (it says). What's my trouble? When I browse to the pipermail folder it doesn't even list the public & private folders. Public (at least) is set to read by all. Rob

URGENT Help required -suddenly some of the Umbrella lists is going unmoderated

Dear All, Please help Thursday I created two cross posts (umbrealla lists) se-mf_se-drm and se-wes_se-drm. When around 5:00 Resource team started posting the messages in these lists, they found that messages are going without moderation. They reported me. I checked the mailman seetings and found that "By default, should new list member postings be moderated?" setting was set to No which I corrected to yes. So, till Friday evening everything was ok. Then suddenly, on Friday evening, again only se-mf_se-drm resource team reported that it their message again went moderated. I again checked the settings. But this time, settings were correct. To handle the emergency, we had to delete that list. Now, today, again one cross post se-mch_aids-se message went unmoderated. We had to remove all members from this list. I request you to please give attention to this concern as there are many cross posts lists are running and if same problem gets replicated there then it will be a huge pronlem. Please suggest how to handle this situation and sort out this. Regards, Vinita Aggarwal

Hi, I installed mailman. I created a mailing list to test if mailman works fine or not. Well, mailman seems alsmot to work but there is just a problem. Let's assume, I have a mailing list : "test". And the mail used for this mailing list is "test(a)lists.mydomain.tld", the members have to send their mails at test(a)lists.mydomain.tld, sure, this email exists, but if a member sends a mail to this address, the mail sticks with the folder of the email (/var/spool/vmail/lists.mydomain.tld/test/new/), and so the email is not distributed to the list. I didn't find a solution, I think this is a problem with the configuration... Any ideas? I'm running debian etch. Mailman doesn't answer

Hi list,   I've got a problem with mailman. I run Suse with Apache2 and mailman installed. Mailman was working fine for weeks. But since a few days, mailman doesn't respond on mails. The webinterface is still working.   I checked the logfiles in /var/lib/mailman/logs but the last entry there is 5 days ago and was nothing like an error.   Does anyone have an idea how to check mailman and fix this problem?   Thank you for help, best regards, Ronny __________________________________________________________ Gesendet von Yahoo! They (and contents) need to be readable by the user under which the web server runs. I was bitten by this last week... Bob

mailman 2.1.10 .. yahoo says "domainkeys=fail (bad sig)" ...

Hello Experts, looking for help. After upgrading to mailman 2.1.10, we were hoping for resolving the issue of stripped keys. Although keys are not longer stripped, yahoo says domainkeys=fail (bad sig) and gmail says "dkim=neutral (body hash did not verify)" Please note that, one to one email works fine and yahoo and gmail both confirms that signature are ok and valid. It is *only* mailman list email that gets invalidated :-( Any suggestions, how can this be resolved? How can we make sure that keys are considered legitimate when email is sent to list? We are using dkimproxy...with both signatures .. and works great on individual emails. Any help would be greatly appreciated. - Regards, Bob.

Messages have stopped getting delivered to mailing lists

I have reviewed several of the previous posting on this problem but do not find a resolution. I have been using Mailman version 2.1.9 for about 3 months. A few days ago, mail delivered to all mailing list began to bounce. I have not made any changes but I believe the mailman user id was altered by the system administrator to add a password was added. I have updated the mailman user to not require a password. I have ran check_perms and found a few errors which were corrected. I have checked the etc/aliases file and all entries appear to be fine. The aliases file does not appear to have changed. See below example of entry: # mailman aliases mailman: "|/u001/mailman/mail/mailman post mailman" mailman-admin: "|/u001/mailman/mail/mailman admin mailman" mailman-bounces: "|/u001/mailman/mail/mailman bounces mailman" mailman-confirm: "|/u001/mailman/mail/mailman confirm mailman" mailman-join: "|/u001/mailman/mail/mailman join mailman" mailman-leave: "|/u001/mailman/mail/mailman leave mailman" mailman-owner: "|/u001/mailman/mail/mailman owner mailman" mailman-request: "|/u001/mailman/mail/mailman request mailman" mailman-subscribe: "|/u001/mailman/mail/mailman subscribe mailman" mailman-unsubscribe:"|/u001/mailman/mail/mailman unsunscribe mailman" I then restarted sendmail and mailman but I am still receiving the below errors. Error messages in /var/log/mailman/error file: Jun 05 08:35:02 2008 post(15152): post script, list not found: mailman I have checked the mailman lists folder and it contains the following files -rwxrwxrwx 1 mailman mailman 238 Apr 16 06:36 request.pck -rw-rw---- 1 mailman mailman 3772 Jun 5 08:00 config.pck.last -rw-rw---- 1 mailman mailman 3772 Jun 5 09:00 config.pck I am able to subscribe to the lists via the web and receive the confirmation email but I am not able to send any email to the mailing lists. I received an undelivered message. Sendmail on the server is working fine, if I send a mail directly to a unix user it is received. Could you please let me know what could have gone wrong?
